RB25. By looking at pics and money spent the 350z tranny is not worth the hassle. If anything it's probably not even possible with the research i've done comparing pics and tranny dimensions.

1) An adapter plate/other custom work will have to be modified so it can fit.

2) Bellhousing from VQ tranny sticks too far with stock mounts. This motor needs to be mounted far back as possible in firewall. Sticking out too much = No space for radiator, not best position for center balance.

3) IF custom mounts/adapter plate are made for the VQ tranny it will have to be pushed back farther for best center balance of motor and radiator clearance. The large sticking out VQ bellhousing will now allow the VQ tranny to be pushed back any further. It won't clear the firewall.

4) Cost of custom driveshaft/adapter plate/ etc. for VQ tranny will come out to same or MORE than sticking with a more durable/smaller bellhousing/bolt on RB25 tranny.

Check Nengun.com for parts. It is well known in the RB26 community. The D-jetro is $691.00 delivered from Japan. You have to sign up but it is free and you will be suprised how very low all the prices are. That is where I have bought alot of parts for my GTR. I am also getting ready to run the Power FC and I am having XS Engineering in California map mine for me. They have tuned more GTRs in the US than anyone and are a stand up company and have done 1000's of hours of R&D. Then I will fine tune it when I am done for my altitude. Good luck on the build. Rich

Thanks for posting Rich. I had heard of nengun before from some of the RB swapped 240sx guys (they are pissed cause apex'i discontinued the RB25DET PowerFC) but had forgot to look there for my motor.

PS. I'm trying to register for nengun.com but it needs my street address and my suburb address....what is a suburb address???

ok I just have to say...nengun is the **** as far as prices go....

700ps OCR Twin Plate Clutch/Flywheel....$1182 shipped and will work in the RB25DET tranny.

Tomei Pon Camshaft and Pulley set....$820 shipped

Nismo is so weird though...they sell everything in singles...engine interals bearings, connecting rods, injectors, etc...still not bad prices for nismo stuff considering it is really expensive anyway

Yes Nengun.com is the poop! You can save alot of money over time getting things through them. They are not the quickest on shipping but always come through in reasonable fashion. I always want whatever I order NOW, NOW, NOW. They never respond to my questions either but always get my orders taken care of.

Nice to hear this. Good looking out.. I've always wondered if they were a reliable seller.

Yeah good to know...I am the same way. Vendors must hate me because I like to know every bit of information and call constantly about shipping if I haven't received info yet

I have always had tools in my G and yesterday I broke down and no tools to be found.... oh yeah my phones battery died about 30 minutes earlier. JOY! Needless to say, putting the tools back in the car was the first thing I took care of when I got the car back home. Lesson learned

Believe me if I had the power to give you both GT-K 650s I would do it in a heart beat. I don't get to make those decisions though. Sorry I did ask for both of you though. You might want to hit up Greg Vogel at www.gspec.com or Sharif and see what they can do for you.... sorry guys. I'm still here to help however I can though...

Oh its all good man, I (and I'm sure Zexy too) appreciate all the input you have given. I've never looked for sponsors or anything before (i'm not closed to the idea just never really put any effort to it), but figured...GTK turbo, what the hell, doesn't hurt to ask

Yeah, the info you probably have helped with most is in the EMS thread. I'm going to end up doing this wiring flying by the seat of my pants most likely. The rest of it isn't very difficult or unfamiliar to me...just time consuming.

I'll PM you next time I'm visiting my relatives in Socal and we can meet up. Thinking about a May 07 trip. Too bad the car won't be with me . Maybe my uncle will let me take his 03 Cobra out though.

You know the more I thought about it I bet you a tach adaptor would solve the rpm signal issue. If you know what the Z inputs to the ecu and what the RB inputs to the ECU I bet a off the shelf tach adaptor would work AND would make scoping signals pointless (as long as you know the types) I'm willing to bet someone has scoped the RB signal and Z signal. Hell the type of tach adaptor used for each car (autometer or otherwise) should be out there everywhere. not sure how effective it is but if you hooked up 2 tach adaptors I wonder if that would work. Follow my thinking. If the RB output is run through its tach adaptor (lets say for an Autometer tach) it comes out in the Autometer tach tpye of signal. Take the output of the adaptor and feed it into the output of a Z tach adaptor which is then hooked to the Z ECU RPM signal input... Unless the adpators are one way feed only (doubtful) that should eliminate the need to scope anything. Just spit balling though. I'd need to look at a tach adaptor to see if it is flow specific...

Interesting idea. Do you know what the tach adapter uses to modify the signal?
