Default Went into Safe Mode

Had check engine light come on that was for Crankshaft Position Signal. Cleared it with an OBDII code reader and when I started the car back up it went into a safe mode.

It would only go to 4th gear - its an automatic and the Manual Mode did nothing.
Each shift was very hard.
The fans stayed on all the time.
I had NO tachometer and the SLIP / VDC lights were on.

I didn't get on it and babied it [40mph max] on the way home. It idles fine and runs OK other then the shifts. I unplugged the battery to try and reset everything.

HELP! Will it be OK once the battery is plugged back up or did I **** it up. My tuner is 200 miles away and they are closed for the holidays...

I went out to start it today and it started just fine. No CEL or anything I could tell while idling. I haven't gotten to drive it, so I'll go do that shortly. But all the gauges work and no fans came on... so I assume, at this point, its out of safe mode.

One of the codes was for Crankshaft Position Signal - since it is intermittent and comes and goes, should I replace that? I thought I read awhile back that other people were having problems with that sensor and there was a little mod you could do yourself to stop it.

The other code was for catalytic converter... teeheheh.

Look at the wiring from your CPS. A local guy had his get melted by the long tube headers he had and it would randomly throw the code and drive like crap.
