Was not directed at you Bert I think it fits you perfectly. On the other hand you would beat me as long as it held together.

With all due respect, let's just leave it at that. You could start a separate "epitome of gayness sticker" thread in the lounge.

Are you defending a 5AT car??
Is the a sign of an impending GM auto tranny swap in your future?

Np did not mean to hijack. Back on topic have your thought about a th 350 or 400 trans? Would imagine cost would be close to a complete rebuild or your trans.

Cool; yes I have thought about it but I'm not the drag racer type like Jeremy (audiblemayhem). Those are both great options for holding high HP and certainly reasonable in price. However, I really want more than 3 speeds although there is an overdrive set available. I've read mixed reviews from the supra guys that are doing it. I'm also a stickler about the aesthetics and not sure about how it would look inside.

I have a 5AT and an APSTT with built motor and I need to upgrade my trans. I was going to go with the VB and TC upgrade but I have not heard anything about a clutch pack upgrade as of yet....is there anything you can tell us to help us 5AT guys out.

Sure, according to my exchange with Alto they will have a "PowerPack available for the input and direct clutches of the RE5R05E in the first quarter of 2007." Not sure about Raybestos yet and waiting to hear back from them.

Also, I spoke with John Lombardo at IPT Transmissions and they will do a rebuild of the trans to include upgraded valve body, extra forward, reverse and high clutches, modified OEM solenoid assembly, lube system is redesigned to prevent failure, and parts heat treated, etc. I waiting to hear back as to who manufactures the clutches they use in the build.

I also believe HPP Racing is working on some rebuilds also. I think we're getting closer.

Sounds great, I heard from a guy who is dealing with Alto who were about to install an upgraded clutch pack but said it did not look better than the OEM ones so I told him to go ahead and just replace the cutch packs with a new set of stockers...now I am confused.

Yeah, I believe they already have a set of OEM replacements. The "PowerPack" is the upgraded set. Also, they could use additional clutches to hold more power. According to Alto, "the Alto # 174756/A will change the Input pack from 6/7 to 7/8 friction plates; it will also contain a new pressure plate and snap ring. The Alto # 174757 will change the Direct pack from 5 to 7 friction plates."
