Would like to see how you installed the BOV to the intake pipe.

Will be installing my next week and sending the pipe to be chrome since we have to use the steel adapter. Will let you know how it fits / looks / sounds.

Awesome, Have you looked at the installation?

The control tube on the HKS is smaller than the factory vaccuum hose. HKS thought of this by including an adapter they call a "air filter" I guess I have to get a short smaller hose to go from the adapter to the HKS BOV.

I was messing with space there its really tight! Oh an I'm not welding it I bought a flange that bolt's right into the coupler.

I prefer to weld it, besides preventing leaks and IMO looks better, it will also give me more room since it will be basically right on the pipe, We have diffrent size hoses so that shouldn't be an issue. But yes it the vacuum (sp?) hose connects to the "air filter" then that connects to the hose. Ill post pictures later if i get a chance.

Who wants to hear their compressors surge to death. Thats the only reason to put an SSQV on a car...

I dont have it anymore, that kit is bye bye

The HKS was a really nice sounding BOV, I dont really know if the performance of it is really as bad as some people think, most people that dont like it, HATE it lol. With a passion, here are some vids of it, and the one I love so much, pic included.

My track video is the only one i found of my ride, but the supra blows off just like it, that vid is the reason lots of people have the HKS haha. I have an in car vid floating on the site, Ill try to find later. BTW, Nitrouz actually had this HKS welded to the pipe on the kit I had, I just stuck my JWT Popcharger stick on it

Never seen flow rate data on that valve but have also never seen a car with a decent sized compressor NOT surge with that unit either. I love big single turbo Supras with this valve who drive around with the compressor surging thinking they sound so cool cause its "just like the Fast and the Furious sound". I guess the uneducated mind is a playground after all.

I guess that depends on your definition of decent sized. I guess they SORT of are. I've never heard an APS car with an HKS SSQV but I did hear a Greddy car with one and the compressors surged all day long... Theres a reason you see a lot of cars with two or even three HKS SSQVs.

I'm just waiting on the flange to bolt it up. atar350 how did you mate yours to the pipe can't really make it out in that pic.

Everyone who owns an HKS has the flutter. Its the low boost valve working properly. Or are they all defective.

I'll take some videos once i get it on. I also have the PURPLE insert which is suppose to be a little quiite and more of a WOOSH sound.

Atar's setup used to be mine as well. Water may get in. Even pointed down, it's still pretty loud. There's a reason I went UP first, then went DOWN. Never surged with my APS TT.

Edit: Actually it did at low rpms / low boost. My brain was locked on 7k full boost conditions for some reason. But I did some research on it before I got my first SSQV, and I believe I read somewhere that at low boost, it does not damage the turbo, as it's significantly less load than when you're going full boost.

I'm just a ricer...I like the sound.

Thanks, good to know. It also seems easier to route the lines while its pointing down.
