Default Called TN about Stage II

Hey guys, I was getting sick of waiting, so I decided to call turbonetics see if I could pry any news out of them. I dont remember the guys name who I talked to but he gave me little to no info at all. He cant say anything on release date of course, b/c they arent done with R&D as we have already been told. From what he said, they are still choosing turbo size and EMS, then testing. I asked him if there was any exchange program for guys who had already bought TN stage 1 kit, and he said that there was no disscusion about any exchange program in the meetings that he has been to. He said that he doubts that there will be an exchange program b/c of people not buying directly from TN, and that they have never done anything like that. He also said that there would be a huge problem with them recieving soo many used turbos that would be pretty much worthless to them. So, unless someone else can shine some light (MIA)...It doesnt look like there is going to be an outing for us stage 1 guys except for just buying the turbo when its released. I know this has been discussed before, but there seems to be a lack of info and possibly misinformation about what will be occuring. I trying not to jump the gun, but I am really on the verge of selling my TN kit. I hope that I am not misinformed and adding to the misinformation, but this is what I was told by a TN rep. Just thought I'd share.

hmmm, being a TN owner i see the delima... BUT, lets not forget whats cool about TN. If and when they come out with this upgraded kit. Im sure each part will have a price on it. So we purchase that down pipe, that turbo, and so on. TN used to be all about custom work which is why i purchased their kit!... i plan on changing my manifold design, re-routing my positoning of my intercooler and radiator to v-mount and so on....

Anyway,.... this is why i purchased their kit; because of their ability to suit the tuners needs.

...not everyone bought that kit for those reasons.... so i cant account for all obviously.

Sorry chimmike...I must have missed that post. Last time I posted about it, iirc MIA said there was going to be some type of exchange for stage I guys. Maybe things changed since then and I didnt catch it.
Anyways, thanx for clearing things up for me

ED who is customer rep at TN i think has said this too...there will be an exhange program

ovbiously probably they will ask proof you bought the kit new from an authorized dealer, or something just like when they ask proof for the 12-month-no-hassel warranty

Might as well go for a Greddy TT then purchasing a theoreticall stage II upgrade. The Greddy TT kit is selling for $5200 with intercooler. Sell the Turbonetics for $3000. Sell the e-manage and the injectors and call it a day. You will have a much better setup than anything Turbonetics can do with a single turbo.

isn't this what we've been saying for a while now?
That's what's so sad and funny at the same time!

The final details are being hammered up there now. I think the engine management system has been decided on without a doubt. All thats left is final fabrication to create jigs for the new pipes that will be needed. There will be an upgrade price for those with the Stage 1 kit that has been solidified. What I don't know is what that final price will be. As soon as I have more info I'll post it..

please explain to me what all this hype is about with the TN Stage 2 kit? i just dont get it. i dont mean to sound like an azz i am really just trying to understand.
i mean there is no stage 2 kits for any other turbo maker? eveyone else just get better parts to acheive their hp goals. JWT guys get bigger turbos and upgrade fuel and ems, greddy and aps guys upgrade fuel and ems.

why cant you guys do the same. anything is possible with the right shop and some $$$.

with all the piping on the TN kit, it is alot easier to wait for TN to make an upgrade kit than to go custom.......ON a traditional twin kit, it is easy to upgrade the turbos as they are mounted right onto the manifolds.

On the TN kit, the turbo is mounted upfront and uphigh, which makes changing the turbo more difficult as you nee to make a new downpipe to mate up with the rest of the TN downpipes (tight fitting area). Plus, if the turbo is too tall, it'll probably interfere with the intake pipe going to the TB, as that pipe runs tight over the turbine side of the turbocharger.

Basically, everything fits together just right on the TN kit. make changes and you will run into interference issues.

that makes sense.
so is it fair to assume that given all the typical upgrades (built motor, fuel sytem, and ems) the turbo is what is limiting the potential power?

Its more than just that but generally speaking the turbo and piping on this kit were designed with 380-420 RWHP in mind. The design parameters followed the targets. Stage 2 is being designed with a target of 550 RWHP in mind and the design parameters will follow that target..

So will there me a price to upgrade, such as in buying a new turbo and piping from turbonetics, or will there be an exchange program + cash for the stage 2 stuff.

If there's no exchange program, I don't see any reason for current TN owners to bother selling their kits, just to purchase a larger single turbo kit. For you to be interested in Stage II means you already have a built motor (or really, really hate your stock block), so why not just go Greddy or APS twins?
