Yes, you need VB. Torque converter is not required.
MRC can do any FI kit you like.

I can tell you that I am not aware of any members with 5AT's who got FI'd at MRC. But Only MRC knows the answer to this question.
But what is the problem? A turbo kit is a turbo kit. VB install, now that's a whole separate issue...

fwiw, i have a 5AT g35 and am building my motor and going turbo

boosted 5AT with TQ Converter to preload turbo > boosted 6MT

lol, we'll see how long the tranny holds up with 500whp

to the OP, it doesn't matter if it's a 5AT or a 6MT...turbo is turbo. The tranny will hold up just fine with 400whp, which is all you'll want on a stock block anyways. A VB is nice, but not necessary. I didn't have one when I was s/c'ed and although the shifting was a bit sloppy, it wasn't bad per se. You can also get a high stall tq converter to speed up spool time if you'd like, which basically means that as soon as you step on the gas, you're in boost(well, almost...lol). Hope that helps.

There a quite a few turbo 5ATs on this forum. Based upon my experience, you should very strongly consider a valve body upgrade and rebuilding your torque converter ASAP. This is a fairly strong stock tranny that may hold upwards of 500+ HP with just those mods. Upgraded clutch packs are on the way sometime this year and maybe 1st quarter.
