Default tapping oil pan

Hey guys the used vortech kit I got didnt come with the tool or the parts to tap the oil return line. What all do I need to buy in order to do this? Is it just a tap with the fitting screwed into the tap?

I did it with a step drill bit, you just don't want to drill too big!
Use the step bit to drill a hole, smaller than the fitting. Use the tap to finish the hole and cut the threads.
When you run the tap in and it starts, go approx.. 1/2 turn in back out 1/4 turn, in 1/2 turn out 1/4 turn and so on, just to clear the cut thread materials out of the taps way.
Take your time!

Sounds like you will need the tap, and the brass oil return fitting. The fitting is hose barb on one side and male thread on the other, off the top of my head I don't know the male thread size?

Just out of curiosity, and ignorance on my part... but why would you tap the oil pan when you could use a T or other split fitting on one of the oil lines that goes to the oil filter? I mean, they are already rubber hoses and they come right out of the oil pan anyways...

nono, it answered the question, I didnt think it would need a totally free flow dump like that, but now that I know it needs that it makes sense that you have to tap it.
