oil in spark plug access
Hey guys im installing my vortech right now but ran into a snag. I have changed out some of the spark plugs and when I pull out the coilpacks everything was normal until I got to one that was dripping oil. It is the same color as my dirty engine oil and there is alot of it. Im hoping its nothing serious but this has me very worried. I also noticed there is alot of oil in the upper and lower plenum runners. The one that is full of oil is the one closest to the driver. Please help me fix this!

+1 Gurgen is correct, I had this issue on my car and it was the valve covers. Seems to be a common problem for some reason.

the spark plug cylinders are sealed to the valve cover with a circular compression spring...when these lose their tension/or stretch, the seal is compromised and oil leaks over from the valve cover into the spark plug tube...
no real way to change the spring seal, only the entire cover

Not 1 dealership had a valve cover bolt in stock so Seans dad drove to a little town outside Tucson called Sierra Vista.. about a 3.5 hour drive total and picked up a bolt + an extra just in case.. Dude Sean, you need to do major housework or makin dinner for Pops or somthin cause I was ready to roll to Sierra Vista..
Anyways, the valve cover had 1 bolt that was just loose.. It was the driver side valve cover, all the way back.. It is a pita to get a ratchet too so I just put the extension on it by hand, and started turning it with my fingers.. We are hoping that was the problem..
We took the valve cover completely off, cleaned everything up and put it back on.. Hopefully that works.. If not, Todd, I will have Sean hit you up for a new one..
I do appreciate the offer
Thanks very much to whoever posted in this thread. 2 total Newbs breakin into this motor and 3-4 peeps giving out alot of help.. Appreciate it again..Ken

changing the valve covers in the car isn't easy, but it is more than doable. I justt didi it last week, when I painted my valve covers. trying to put the new covers on without messing up the paint is gonna be harder than just manhandling the covers back in there.
those gaskets suck though! mine kept falling off right before I have the covers in place.

the trick is puuting a dab of rtv on the surface of the gasket that fits inside the groove in the valve cover, at each corner, this will keep it in place long enough to wrestle it back onto the cylinder head
