Well it fits on there. It is more snug then the stock one but that is most likely because of the hard coat and the fact that the stock one has some miles on it. Goes on about a 1/4" and then stock and gets snug.

So.. you're going to mount a SC where the AC compressor used to be? Good idea, had the same thought myself and am very interested in what you are doing. However, why the Vortec? Have you looked at the Rotrex systems? The C30-94 runs 80% max efficiency with a lot of potential, and only 11 lbs total unit weight. The C30-94 will easily get you to that power level, with minimal noise and a much better drive system.
Good luck with the intake manifold, the plumbing will be tough. I know that Top Secret's design worked due to the radiator being moved. Really awesome looking though.

Is the Rotrex c30-94 the same blower HKS used on it's SC kit ? If it is , it isnt going to make good power . The HKS Rotex only made like 340whp tops

 

the main reason behind the vortech is that I got hooked up with it decent from the company I work for.

 

I admit that rotex would have been really nice because their drive system allows some of their headunits to reach an speed of almost 140,000 rpms which is insane. However, the cost and the noise reeduction wasn't worth it in my eyes.

 

No, the HKS uses a much smaller frame. This is the similiar in size to the unit Active Autowerke and Dinan use for their M3 kit, but with a slightly better compressor to bump adiabatic rates up from 78% to 80%, which is better than most turbos, and beats the hell out of the V2 trim Vortech. I like the Rotrex because of this, and the lighter weight, smaller size, less noise, etc...
Another question, if you lower the engine with new mounts, that sounds great for better intake manifold clearance. But, will you also make new exhaust headers since current ones won't clear with a 3/4" drop? I'm really excited about this project.
To clear the intake tract, if you come from the front like Top Secret, have you thought about splitting the tract just before it goes into the TB? The two paths could come across the top of the fan cover and join before going into the TB. If you use the new 07 radiator support, there is space for the intercooler tract to come up from the intercooler on each side of the fan shroud, so this idea could work. Just a thought.

Regarding the intake manifold. It will be the last thing that I do on the kit and it will be after I get it running with the stock intake manifold. My engine mounts will be mad such that I can machine them shorter as needed in the future with little effort if needed.

Also, I plan on doing a v-mount so I will be making my own front end.
