We do everything, except for boring and honing the blocks, and balancing the crank. These processes are done at a different facility, and we assemble and fnish the shortblocks in house. Sorry for the confusion.

Either way, there would be no finger pointing involved, if something were to go wrong. They are our engines, and we stand behind them.

A thread like this is like dropping a dead fish in a swarm of sharks

Just to add a piece of info, we always have at last 5 blocks in the works (being machined), so that we can GUARTANTEE our turn around time... meaning, if someone ordered a shortblock today, we could ship it out next week...

Whatever you end up deciding, all the builders here are great, I know them all personally, we all need to get together and open up one worldwide headquarters and handle all vq35's ...

just a suggestion:
run the correct oil clearances for your application, if you are going turbo- you will need more clearance, make sure that either the block is align honed and a standard race bearing that is one thousandth smaller is used to allow for greater clearance, or the block is completely blueprinted to figure out just what bearings should be run... you DO NOT want to run the bearing sizes that nissan recommends, this will be at 1.4thousandths- way too tight for a race motor.

use hks headgaskets

upgrade the head studs for better clamping force (we opt to use 1/2" head studs on 90% of our builds)

Good luck, hope you get back on the road soon

GTM is all over the place... even my built motor, which was done @ GRD, (Naperville IL.) is a GTM product.

What about a turbo street motor not a true race motor. One built for lots of miles basically.

I've changed my oil and sparkplugs. So I guess I can build your motor. I have to start somewhere, right? It'll be a 2 year turn around time though! I have to bore and hone by hand, plus I make my own pistons out of 321 rubber!

if one is going to rev their engine high and create more heat and stress with a turbo/nitrous application, the engine should have larger oil clearances, even if it is a daily driven street car...just safer, and it will make a bit more power

we blueprint/build our engines accordingly, if someone is looking for an all out drag/turbo/nitrous motor// the main clearances should be at around 3-3.5thousandths of an inch (vs the factory 1.4 thousandths)...my personal engine, I setup at 2.5-3 thousandths, I run 16-18psi, 600rwhp...101oct + methanol injection

Yep, but conventional wisdom says they don't last as long either.

Every thread around here makes me feel like i am coming out of a basketball game... you either feel good like something was accomplished, feel bad because nothing was accomplished or watching your back because a fight just broke out

It's not a fight. Don't try and turn it into one. I am simply asking why you would up the clearances on the engine for a street car.
