Default For those who ditched Turbonetics for the Greddy

How much did it set you back?
Since I can't do the work myself...
-1k to take the TN off
+3k for selling the TN
+500 for selling the exhaust
-4k for a used greddy
-1.5k for install of greddy
-600 for a used exhaust
-400 for a new tune

so it seems like it will set me back around 4k, does this seem right to you?
Or would the labor for the greddy and turbonetics be much less since the engine is coming out anyways??

When the time for a built engine comes, it seems like keeping the TN kit would be a waste of money unless TN comes out with some sort of an upgrade kit to a stage II so I won't have to spend so much money on labor.. But the wait seems forever

I love the turbonetics on stock block right now but it just seems pointless to keep the stage1 if I were to build the engine when a basic shortblock package will support around +500whp..
It hurts to think about what the car will be worth when the time comes to sell the car.. make me think about just selling the car before I run in through all this trouble

the TN won't cost you $1000 to remove.........I removed mine at a very leisurely pace in about 4 hours......started at 11:00 PM and finished at a bout 3:00AM.

If you can get away with upgrading to a GReddy TT setup and ONLY lose 4k, then consider yourself ahead.

I lost just under 2k, but I did all the labor myself... 6k is pretty high, I think 4k is just about right...

Personally, I'd just save up a bit more and do a basic build on the block while it's out/apart...

Just my

No raping going on here My Greddy kit was used and came with stuff I didn't need so that helped out alot. I think everyone with a TN should go greddy!!!!! You'll all be happier!!!! If you think about it, most are selling their TN for 3k, used greddy's can be had for 4-4.5k. Not a big difference, just labor is what kills everyone.

Yup.
I will go built motor while everything is being done..
I wouldn't go greddy unless I went with a basic build

Hey Bert,
What was total amount that set you back going from TN to Greddy with the built motor? (of course not counting the labor to remove the TN but counting new exhaust, engine labor, greddy install labor...etc)
If you don't want to post it, please PM me, thanks!

If a shop is going to swap a TN for the Greddy....they should charge next to nothing to remove.

now im gonna be honest; i dont really know that much about the 350z or the turbonetics turbo BUT i was reading in turbo mag the other day about the turbonetics single turbo kit (they had it on a g35 sedan) and they said that with stronger internals, a turbo controller and probably something else that im forgetting like an upgraded wastegate or something, that turbo could push you up to 600hp.

If what you read was true, then that magazine was wrong or wasnt clear enough. I have yet to see a stage 1 TN hit 500whp, if one did-which I do think is possible, that would be close to 600 crank hp.
