Default Oil Under Hood...?(Vortech)

Just wanted to check with all you Vortech owners to see if, you have had this problem. I just noticed that under my hood near the Vortech blower side. I have some oil stains under my hood and near my vortech intake tubing. Is this normal? Have any of you Vortech owners encountered this problem? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

not normal, and never happened to me

here's a dumb question, did the oil dipstick get put all the way back in or the oil cap tightened all the way?
Otherwise it'd have to be an oil line going to the blower

That's definately not normal. Either one of your sc seals is broken or the crank relief hose is leaking somewhere. Hrm now that I think about it, it could be alot of things.

-Oil feed leak
-SC seal
-Crank relief hose leaking

Do you hear compressor surge? If you have compressor surge it could be forcing air out of the air filter and after a while of that happening can leave deposits. I had deposits on my strut bar from the bov. Start it up and see if you can see anything leaking

you sure it's oil and not belt residue? That stuff goes all over that side of the motor and turns stuff black.

best thing would be to get it up on a lift or jack/ramp up the front end and get a good look under the car taking the plastic undertray off. It's probably obvious where it's coming from if you could just get a good look at all the places oil goes to

Thanks for all the info guys. I will check under the car tomorrow. As for oil it seems like oil to me. I just found out that my oil dipstick has been held by a tie wrap. Maybe that is why oil is under the hood. As for compressor surge that s not the case.

I will post up some pictures of the oil stains if it comes back tomorrow.

Forgot to ask you guys...When I remove the hose going to the Vortech blower do I need to drain the oil first? Or can I just remove it without draining the engine oil?

I just removed my vortech filter and stuck my hand under the blower and found a bunch of oil residue with dirt. I think you guys are right about the hose connecting to the blower leaking or needs tighting.

You shouldn't need to drain the oil to remove the inlet or outlet hoses from the Vortech.

Except for a little sitting at the bottom of the SC . All the oil that is pumped into it , drains right back to the motor .

My guess would also be that your oil drain , or oil supply hose is loose .

Thanks for all the info guys. Got under the car today to find the problem. It was the steel hose going to the vortech that was loose. Tighten it up and everything is back to normal.

Ive been leaking oil from under the blower too. What did it take to fix this. Did you have to take the blower off?

You can easily get to the back of the blower to check both the drain and oil feed lines . Just take off the front inner wheel well liner . I take the whole blower off this way also .
