Oil cooler...or just oil pan spacer?
Living in Mass. and running a turbo, Its your call. Living in Mass and running a SC, it wouldnt hurt. Both senarios are based on Hi way driving, if you are in stop dead rush hour traffic often in the heat of summer, then I would on SC,Turbo, and even NA.
Im a firm believer in covering my butt as far as unforseen situations----What if you broke ur Water pump belt and had to haul *** to the next stop ? Cooler oil may save ur motor, and something else that may is that extra qt of oil in that larger pan.
Plus the pan is a convenient place to put that sending unit for the oil temp gage that every hi performance car needs. < IMO

I might add, Due to competitive pricing, Auto manufacuers tend to give you JUST what u need under ideal conditions with little margin for error---Oil capacitys, Radiator sizes, Oil cooling components,PS/Auto trans fluid capacitys,Grounding wires, Starter/Alt sizes, stock clutch sizing, etc.etc. Its a good car owners job to improve on the existing
