Well, I finally had a free moment to actually tune MY car. It's been extremely busy here, and my car always takes last priority.
Anyways, I hate to say this, but I have grown tired of running massive boost on the street, only to knock the tires off the car in just about any gear below 80mph, so I figured I'd try lowering the boost, and seeing what type of power I could make.
Keep in mind, my engine has 22,000 miles of utter abuse, and still runs great. 4% leakdown in all cylinders, and comp checks at 150psi +/- 3psi.
So I turned the boost controller off, and ran pure wastegate pressure, which ends up being 8.3psi on our dyno, and registers about 8.6psi on the FCON datalogger.
So running the following setup:
FP 3.8L Shortblock (non stroked)
Greddy TT kit with Td-06 upgrade
GTM Big Valve heads
JWT S1 Camshafts
And of course, HKS FCON V-Pro for tuning.
As we mentioned on another thread, we are going to be running our dyno in Shoot Out mode. Shoot Out mode locks out all user adjustable parameters, so the numbers are impossible to fudge. It also stamps each chart with the correction input the computer used, air inlet temp, ambient temp, baro, etc..etc. Shoot out mode can display whp, or estimated flywheel power. On this graph, we are showing whp numbers. 450whp@8.3psi. For reference, we usually need about 13-14psi to get these numbers on our dyno, with a Greddy TT, without headwork, cams, overbore, or the turbo upgrade.
I drove the car around, and its just plain FUN!! Super crisp, and still stink fast. This is just the perfect sweet-spot for a street-tire clad 350Z, IMHO.
I could drive this crap out of this setup for days...so fun...and very reliable. I think I will leave it here for a while. Just in case, I have the 15psi and 19psi nasty tunes in reserve....one click and its judgement day.
Enjoy!

Nice #'s. That same problem has run through my head time and time again lately. I want the power, but on there comes a time when there is actually too much power on the street when you cant hook up. 450whp should be plenty enough to have some fun and still embarass alot of cars at a stop light.
nice setup and numbers
man, I'm glad there's people on the boards who also think getting good traction in the end is a better priority than gobs of unusable spin power on the street - as awesome as flooring it might be in 4th gear and above
IMO the lower gears is where most of the street fun is at. And it's nice to know you can just stomp the gas and not have to worry about hitting the curb or car that's next to you from going sideways

I know what you mean, man... thats why I'm not sure if I want to put forged internals to boost up, my Z have 463 whp for more than two years and its been so fun that I'm not sure if I want the other side of F/I... defently is the sweet spot for daily driving (Street Tires)

Impressive numbers on low boost, and that new windows dd is slick!

, what's the amount of torque?
