Well, i may be switching over to the APS kit. Here's another question: those w/ the APS (or any FI kit, for that matter), are you running test pipes, Hi-flow cats? And exactly how easy would it be to pass smog when the time arises? Do you just go to a specific person to test, remove everything, etc? As I said, the main reason for Vortech is b/c of the CARB b.s., and as much as possible, I'm trying to avoid unnecessary hassles.

I think even with the vortech and the mods you would want to do, you still might fail the sniffer, if your setup flows enough. Only other option really is the Stillen.

I'm located in Southern Cali. I'm sure that when the time comes to pass sniffer, i'll figure out a way to do it. I know I'm not the only one to have to do that. So, I guess it'll be APS in my car this summer. I know that i'll need a wideband A/F guage, boost, oil pressure, and fuel pressure. Other guages I'll need? Turbo timer is something I will need, and a boost controller as well. Other things I should factor in?
EDIT: this will be going into a 6mg 2005 Revup Sedan.
thanks guys, JOHN

You won't need a boost controller as the unichip (stock APS EMS) can control boost. Also the turbos are water cooled so you don't need a turbo timer.
The APS TT is a set it and go kit. You don't need to add anything other than exhaust and test pipes. I would recommend the APS 2.5" exhaust and TP's. APS kits work best with other APS parts.
you could also go with the APS 3" exhaust and 3.5" test pipes which would give you faster spool up time and less back pressure, but it would also be louder. I don't mind a loud exhaust, but I don't think it's a great idea if you live in CA.

sweet deal; i figure about 12K should get me the kit, tuned and installed. As far as built motor, i'm really not sure if i want to build my motor, or s/c my Titan. I can say that the stock rwhp brings a smile to my face (my titan has 260rwhp; i would imagine the G35 is around 240-250), so 380rwhp should be plenty....man oh man i can't wait

Would hi-flow cats be a smart investment, or should i forgo them completely and go w/ 2.5" test pipes? I want my exhaust to flow as freely as possible, but don't want to draw unecessary attention (read: the fuzz b/c of a loud exhaust)

I would just go with the test pipes over the hf cats and keep your cats for when it's time to do the sniffer test.
I'd also look into doing a custom 2.5" true dual exhaust. The stillen or Borla will get the job done, but they are not the best for FI.

when I got my 3" exhaust they were none available so I had a shop custom make mine with 3" test pipes. I am using HKS TI muffler. The mufflers were $500 for both and the exhaust and test pipes came to $600.

I am not sure if any 2.5" exhausts are made for the Sedan so if there aren't just find a good muffler shop that mandrel bends and you'll be good to go. If you can find 2.5" exhaust for the Sedan I would just go that route instead of custom.

Having gone the NA w/bolt ons, ST, and now TT, I look back and wish I had just pulled the trigger on it sooner.
Not sure what its like out there on the West Coast, but here 11k for a vortech is more expensive than an ST install, and even some basic Greddy installs. I can't speak to the CARB stuff, as the last time I was in Cali they weren't really enforcing it (but that was like 8-10 years ago).

One last recommendation. Since you are close to GTM I'd take advantage of that and take your car there.. They charge a little more than other shops, but they are worth it. Sam will give you a good install and tune. There are people that drive 8+ hours and even ship there car there because he is so good.
