If anyone finds a fix for the fraying belts/teeth ripping clean off.. Please post it here!!

It could be that the tension is just sooooooo important and you must tension the belt perfectly.. not too loose, not too tight..

The Vortech SC has been made for our cars for three years now and these are the first cog belts that Ive heard of falling apart . I would guess that its a quality control issue from Gates and has nothing to do with Vortech

I dont have a Vortech.. I have ATI Procharger.. But I know its not a quality control issue because the belts look perfect.. until the cogs rip them to shreds @ a measly 13psi on Sharifs dyno..... I have seen the car at 14-16psi with no shreds on the belt..... But on the dyno for some reason it didnt last at all..

I see
Well there has been several Vortech cogs that have shreaded lately . With the ATI I have heard that it is the bracket that flexes and rips the belts in the upper PSI levels . Then again it could be just the trq and stress put on them in the upper PSI level . Im running 20psi right now and as WOT runs to redline increase . I'll find out real quick if it can handle it .
Sharif has tried before with Trefling's car and the ATI . He should have a good idea on the problem .

Wow, i cant believe your seeing 20psi.. I wish i could hit that( I just dont see it as feasable with the ATI kit).. Do you have any dynos?? Sharif said that its hard to make power after 10psi on these sc applications.. I didnt know he had Trefling's car though.. I hope he can make me proud the next trip I make to forged on this last tune( BRINGING EXTRA BELTS )..

Im thinking of trying wider belts.... That would require a wider tensioner pulley.. Ill see what ATI can do for me..

They are talking about the cog belt, not the serpentine belt. Cog belt is much harder to get outside of Vortech.

you might also want to try Gates Powergrip GT2 kevlar backed belts... but, bro, i think your grinding of the pulley teeth may have something to do with your belts fraying... i know they are sharp on the tops from the factory, but they seemed a bit sharp on the inner edges after being ground... i think that might be an issue...

You would think that after all the belt teeth being ripped off the cog would be smoother ..
