Default Possibly bad oil pump?

whats up everybody, I have a APS TT kit. so yesterday morning I heard some weird ticking noise when i hit 2k rpm(which I have never heard of), so i though it could be just cold. but after 2 blocks i didnt feel right i pulled over, checked the oil level and it was not running or any kind. checked around to and see if i have any kind of leak and nothing. I though it was fine, so I drove it to the freeway. It warmed up to about 190degree, and water temp was normal. The only thing is the oil pressure, it stayed below 30psi the whole time. I pulled off the freeway, checked everything again, dont know what could be wrong but the oil pump? I got the car as-is with the kit on, so I am still a noob to this car. Thanks for reading and I appreciate for any reply.

If it weren't for the ticking sound, I'd say it was a bad oil sending unit (happened to me) or a bad guage. If I were you, I'd be safe and not drive it until it's figured out. Maybe have it towed to the dealer or a trusted shop.

"ticking" or "tapping" could be a few things..Could be not getting oil, making a ton of valvetrain noise, timingchain tensioner noise, valve tap,cam lash,or it could be a rod knock starting from wiping a bearing due to lack of oil..
In any of the cases above the outcome is not favorable for you.

Hard to say. We have plenty of bad stock oil pressure gauges, so I generally dont trust them. IMHO, its highly unlikely that your oil pump as failing. Like MRC suggested, that noise could be coming from just about anything. Only way to tell, is to put a stephescope on the engine, and poke/listen for where the noise is coming from.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the reply.
I forgot to mention one thing, I had to drive it up hill for like a block, I can hear the "tapping", "ticking" louder around 2000 rpm.
Also, will the dealer touch a boosted Z?
