Default APS Extreme - Lag?????

Im looking at the APS extreme kit and wondering how bad the lag is on this car with that kit?
Is it greatly increased over the standard kit?

Appreciate your opinions.

My guess would be next to none... seriously, people that have never driven an FI Z seriously over estimate "turbo lag" on these cars.

what are your HP goals? maybe you don't need to upgrade to the extreme kit and external wastegates may help you at a cheaper solution

Looking to get to about 650hp.

The big plus are the wastegates and the fuel system, as its all included.
Has anyone done externals on the standard kit, yet?

i would hold off for now.. look for Brian and Chris to come out with some builds close to that HP Level on the standard APS Kits.. its cheaper for you to buy a Stg 3 Fuel System and External Wastegates than to sell your APS TT Kit for cheap and then buy an Extreme Kit.

If i were you.. i would hold off for now... unless you are looking to push 800+ whp .. then hold off

i know alex got to around 800 but without massive engine work, that kit has a hard time getting there.

Lag isn't bad at all on the Extreme kit. Like Doug said, you could probably get plenty of power out of the standard kit that you already have and save some coin.

i was in the same boat. .and i ended up stayin with the regulare kit.. people are still pushing the boundries of the standard kit.

dong get me wrong if i were to do it all over and if the extreme was out when i went F/I then i would have gotten the extreme. simply for the fuel system and external wastegates

The turbos do spool a little bit later than the regular kit. The regular kits usually hit 15psi at about 3500-3700rpm in 5th gear, and the extreme kit hits 15psi at about 4000-4200rpm. But I would not call them "laggy".

I'd definitely save yourself some cash and go with the "tuner" standard kit. Instead get cams, like GTM's, FCON, Extreme Fuel and you should be able to reach your goal. Do you mean 600hp or 600whp? Todd from BuiltZMotors.com runs the standard kit on his personal car with the UTEC, 750cc injectors, aam stage 2 fuel system @ 18psi for approximately 600rwhp, 640ft lbs rtq!

Try driving 550whp first then see if you can put it down, handle it, not die. The APS extreme fuel system has had some issues, and the injectors are IIRC "only" 750cc @ the standard 42psi...I vote for keep the standard kit, save $$$, enjoy the car

you will have to wait a little longer. Still have to change the clutch and flywheel. Got one from JWT that can handle max. 500hp . And some big tires. . Block is in the car now so it will be ready soon.
