Default I think I blew my motor, please help....

So I was driving home from work today when I noticed my car was making a clanking noise from inside the engine bay. I assumed it was the clutch rattleing. The more I drove the louder ( worse ) it got. When I finally got home I realized the sound was coming from the engine. The more I press the gas the louder and faster it sounds. I could describe it as a woodpecker sound from my engine. I think it's maybe a bent rod, but im no mechanic. Please help guys!

FYI: I'm tuned @ 8lbs and running the UTEC.

Sounds like a bent rod, Don't drive or start the car so if the crank and block are still good you can same some money on a rebuild.

I know how you feel and am truly sorry, how long was your car boosted for? I see you have HarmanMotive on your sig, did they tune it?

Best of luck,

P.S. Let me know if you need anything

Sounds like it could be a spun bearing or an issue with a valvetrain. Either way, you need to take it into a competent shop asap to investigate it.

haha well funny you mention that. my oild pressure gauge doesnt work.... When I pull out the dipstick though, the whole dipstick is coverd in oil. I have oil all the way to the top of the dipstick. I can't imagine thats a good thing.

This also didn't happen all in one day. It started a few days ago but was barley noticeable because I drive with the music on pretty loud. It just gradually got worse and worse. Now you have to cover your ears up when i start the car and rev it. It makes me want to cringe.

If you've got your orignal dyno sheet from the tune, it'd be great to see if we can identify any issues that might have contributed to the failure...

best of luck!

The real question is 'how many miles?'

Some guys put 150 miles on in 2 months, others put 2k. Big difference.

Also, when you say the dipstick had oil all over it....well that's normal in my book . What did it read after you wiped it off and re-checked it?

Sorry for your motor. Goodluck on what you have planned. Are you going to stay with the APS ST?
