Forged fixed my bad APS TT install on built motor
This might seem like a long post, but I would like to share my story of an
APS TT install on a built motor (by another company) that was poorly done in
so many ways, I could write a book on it.
My car was at another shop for over 6 months for a built engine and an APS TT install along with APS 3 1/2" downpipes, RPS clutch and other goodies to
complement the setup. The first engine blew a headgasket from the start. Never left the shop, blew on dyno during testing. Found out they used regular ARP's and not L-19's like they should have in the first place. They rebuilt the engine, and got it up and running and after 43 dyno pulls, gave me my car back. It is an 06 Track and had 11,000 miles on it. The tune sucked, the car ran like crap, the fuel tank o-ring leaked and smelled like I had raw gas everywhere when I filled it once. Never once did I ever intend to return the car to have the problems fixed. I delivered the car to them in Nov 06 and got it back in June 07 with all the above problems. I figured with the amount of money and TIME invested and this is the best I could get out of them, it was time for a change....
I called Sharif at Forged and he said bring it down and he would look everything over and correct anything that needed changed. It did have
an Extreme fuel system and Kinetic intake and Sharif said he needed
to put an F-Con in it to be able to tune it properly, had to fix one wastegate
actuator that was not even hooked up (missing clip), tear fuel tank assembly
apart to fix the leak (poor install of o-ring), change spark plugs for colder
set (they left stock ones in) and then retune the car. There were many other
things done too...leakdown...compression test, oil change ect.
All of this got done in a week, car runs like a rocket, 520 RWHP at 14 lbs on
pump gas and is now a real daily driver like it should have been in the first
place. He always took my calls, gave me updates of what problems they ran
into and fixed everything he thought needed attention.
I just want to post this for anyone considering any high dollar upgrades
to be sure to check out the shop's reputation where you are going to
spend your money like I should have done, and didn't, and you will get
what you want out of your investment. It has been a long road to get to
the point of being EXTREMELY happy with my car, and without Forged, Sharif and their great staff, I would probably just about given up.
I just needed to give credit where credit was due, and that is Forged Performance. I am even going to have another engine built by them as
that is the only piece of the install they didn't have anything to do with,
and the leakdown is just a little suspect. It is OK for now, but come fall
of this year, I am getting a Forged engine and then I will have piece of mind.
Thank you Sharif for all you have done and I LOVE the way it runs!!!!!!!!
NO smoke on acccel or decel except for the tire smoke in the first 3 gears!

I wanted F-Con for the reason some of the parts on the car were from the
Extreme kit and some from the stock APS TT. And I want to be able to
upgrade to the Extreme latter on. I have everything installed but the turbos
and wastegates and a few other pieces. The first place where my car got
the install was just wearing my engine out on the dyno trying to get it to
run....even after 43 pulls, they still were not even close to a daily driver
tune. I just wanted my car back in my hands so I could get it finished
before being worn out on their dyno. They were pulling at 18 lbs of boost to
try and make some good numbers..about the same that Sharif made with
only 14 lbs. And it idles like a stock engine instead of 1100 RPM and
the A/F is correct where as before was PIG rich. Smelled unburnt fuel on
decel with windows open or closed.

The first shop is also in GA and that should be the clue. I may have only posted
few times as I am not qualified to answer the questions some have as I have not
had the chance to drive the car much. After the first install, I sent it to Forged
without putting even 100 miles on it for the fear of fuel ring wash.

I don't blame anyone but myself for not doing my homework on
this project...but since have read almost EVERY freaking thread
on Forced Induction to learn what works and what doesn't. That
is one reasson for few posts to begin with. I needed to get
educated first.

While it certainly is nice to have, it isnt needed for all applications...

Glad you were pleased with the results.
When the car arrived, it was running the Extreme APS fuel system, injectors, and the UNICHIP basic, believe it or not. It was completely undrivable.
I am not going to get into an FCON vs. UTEC debate. The car starts instantly, even with large injectors, and idles, cruises and accelerates just like stock, and is smooth as butter, and super consistent.
Just as it should be.
Enjoy!
