Default 06 revup vortech or TN

piecing the kit together now, got utec and looking at exhaust, going to function tuned for install. I got an 06 g35 6mt revup, and i hear the vortch are pretty solid on them but i really want the torque of the TN, however hear TN are not made for the revup and they require alot of modification.IM going pretty conservative only want around 375 hp at the wheels. anyone running TN on revup and how much additional work was involved.

I don't know much about the TN setup but I can tell you that the Vortech setup works very well with an 06 G35 6MT revup.

Hexxum001,

How does you car stand up against a Greddy TT with everything being equal? Still can't make up my mind.

what is "everything being equal"

equal whp or equal tq or equal boost?

equal tq, the vortech would probably win since it'd have like 80 more tq in the upper powerband

equal whp, the greddy would win

equal boost, the greddy would win

well, my advice, for what it's worth, is that if your G is a daily driver and if you just want to mildly tune it without worrying about much about it, I'd say go with the supercharger. The supercharger setup is much more reliable, all things considered, than a turbo setup. If you want more torque and aren't worried about small problems popping up, go with the turbo setup. Definitely do some research on both kits and watch some videos to help you decide. both setups are very good, but they are very different as well.

This is a difficult to answer. You are talking about two completely different animals here. Plus, I have no experience with a GReddy TT setup so I really couldn't answer anyways. It all really comes down to what your goals are.

Had the vortech with 3.12 and mods approx 10psi, now have the tn single and mods approx 8.5 psi.

I did like the top end of the vortech, but you gotta drive it hard to get all the boost.

I do like the wicked midrange pull of the tn, but miss the top end I used to have.

I like the stealth factor the turbo gives me. I didnt like the noisy blower unit, or the whistling whisky bypass valve it had.

Im sure once i get a proper ems and tune my st will be even more impressive to me.

for the 06 the TN kit need to have a modified DP to get it to fit.. IMO this would be my choice

I said go vortech for a couple reasons..............

1) vortech makes a kit specifically for the "revup" with a better belt wrap design.. you have to modify the steering rack to fit the TN or some people have said that you have to swap the rack back to an 03-05 unit... ( not sure though)

2) 95% chance you will melt your A/C line (eventually) with the TN.

3) extentended power band with the Vortech, versus a truncated powerband of the TN.

its not truncated... you either will make whp to the redline... or be "flatter" by read line... but you get a heck of a lot more Tq and u trully will enjoy getting the "pushed back to the seat" feeling...
both are decently cheap...for the Z and also relatively easy installation.
How ever...quadcam is right... Vortech makes rev up specific unit.
On the steering pump you dont have to modify it... much easier to jsut have the shop modify the downpipe.

You would need to modify the donwpipe or modify the steering rack for the kit to bolt on to an 06 Revup.

yeah I just dropped my 06 z at function this morning for vortech install. I am planning on staying around 400 and keeping everything low key, trying to keep engine intact for as long as possible.
