I also am on my 3rd engine. It sucks to get screwed and I've been there(never go to Ultimate Performance in Dulles, VA they will SCREW YOU with no vaseline!). Good thing your in the right hands now and you should be fine from here on in. Advice to all who are thinking of going F/I or building a motor. Research and find the most reputible shop there is and dont cut any corners trying to save a few bucks either.

Those are some tight clearances - wow. Hard to say for 100% sure what happened at this point - even facts don't always tell the whole story. What if the original tuner over-rev'd the engine? Tough spot to be in no question. Situations like this make it a no-brainer to just stick to one shop...

Best wishes for a speedy recovery - hope you cash in with your next lotto ticket to make up for this!

Tuning is referred to as "Dynometer Testing" on our invoicing software. So the $1000 charge was for 3 maps, First map is $500 and the 2 additional maps are $250 each(91 Octane map, 91/Meth. Inj. map, Race gas map). Hope that clears everything up

I knew about the details about this since you let some of us local people know and glad to see you finally posted this thread cause that just sucks

man... that's just an absolute worse case scenerio except maybe if the engine actually blew up during the course of all that.

hope things get worked out for the best
GTM is a top notch shop

Damn Don your keeping a cool head about this if it was me I'd make them pay for the repair cost too, there is no reason you should be stuck with it I think that if a company wants to stay reputable they should have the ***** to admit something was wrong and not only give you a refund but pay for the other costs involved as well.

Kudos to GTM for the help, looks like thats the place to go if you want something done.

that's inline with other tuners.....the way your invoice writes it up is odd, but then again those receipts are not normally in plain view of the public and the charges/invoicing can be taken out of context.

Thats good that Sam @ GTM "fixed" your built engine. Yes the shop in AZ should at least refund the faultly longblock. Wow their was alot of FOD in your oil pan damn! That can easily jack up your whole motor. and all of the clearance problems damn, I am suprised you got 400hp out of that set up. Hope everything goes well.

That is our normal rate for tuning which includes Dyno tuning/Fine road tuning (w/ HKS knock amp) and A/F reading. This is a very good deal considering Sam spent much more than 2-3 hours tuning this car.

Exactly, all our invoices are explained to the customer we did not know he was going to post it on the web No problem with that at all just don't want anyone to be mis informed on the charges.

BTW am i the only one that notices that GTM's rates are a little on the HIGH side.

I mean come on, you guys charge almost $600 for a compression & leak down test. I know you guys do good work, but Jesus. And yes i know what is involved in performing each of these procedures as i have performed them on my personal cars before.
