I'm waiting for a price quote, so we'll see if this is even feasible.

I haven't read the entire thread, but have most of the kinks been worked out in the kit? I know there aren't too many owners, but my Vortech kit was pretty much bolt on and go (minus tuning obviously). I am considering building a motor in the future, depending on my cash flow situation, and w/o going twins, I thought this would be a decent kit to have to be in the 400+ range. If I blow my motor with my current Vortech setup, I would either put it all back to stock or build a motor and go with a different kit anyways.

Who knows - maybe I should just bow out now like DanielW is doing and start investing in things that actually give me a return on my money. I noticed the Honda Fit is calling my name haha

EDIT: Oh, and I would definitely go the center pipe route, and deal with the heat as much as I can (Jet Hot + wrap?) and go with straight water injection (not deal with meth).

You guys keep talking about heat issue's??????? I live in NorCal (100 deg most of the summer) and I have no heat issue with the center pipe at all. When I had the vortech, I had so much heat in the engine bay the water temps actually went sky high running hard a Thunderhill....but with the STS I run cool and fast all day long.

The center pipes run slightly hotter than the side pipe, but to no significant degree. A greater temperature difference was had running the STS setup on a G35 vs a 350z. The G35 has no direct opening for the center-mounted intercooler, and that caused some SERIOUS heat-soak issues, especially at low-speed or idle.

We are talking about an increase in the IAT not the engine bay, water, oil..etc. We are not talking about a huge increase here either, around 5F-10F increase does hurt a little since one of STS' main selling point is the lower IAT. Like Goosegoose said, the increase or lost of power is not comparable to the head ache you'll get with the side piping especially in city driving.

^ +1 I wasn't trying to imply that there were heat "issues" with the center pipe kit and i appologize if it came accross like that. I think hands down this kit is going to run cooler than anything out there side pipe or not. I was just saying the side pipe would probably give slightly lower IAT's.

I wish I was "FIT" enough for a honda fit to be calling my name. lol I couldn't "FIT" into a fit

Never been a fan of VW... My friend had nothing but trouble but my brother-in-law has an Audi and it has been good so far. If reliability is a main concern then stick with a Jap car. Just make sure you don't turbo it again..lol

I mean if you think about it, if any of the inner material deteriorates and comes loose its going right through your turbo

above 10psi then there is a chance of blowing the CAT. Goosegoose blew his HFC at around 14psi, good thing his mid-pipe filtered most of it. Eventually his turbo just collapsed a few weeks later but that could be just because the turbo was just really maxed out at 14psi. Either way my car responds better with TP compared when I had my Stock Cat.

My only problem is living in Cali....our smog laws are brutal and TP's will never fly here.

Well, I finally called to get a quote. The kit is now $6500 installed, or $6000 shipped - that's a lot of money. Too bad the prices weren't lower still. Although, I will be getting a quote in the next few days for a kit w/ just the turbo, piping, intercooler, and oil pump. We'll see how low that's able to bring it down to.

The price was $5500 before so they just increased it by $500. It is confusing since some get a price of $7000 for a complete kit... Good luck with your decision.

Alright guys, getting closer to pulling the trigger on this.

What mid-pipe do you guys go with? I currently have a Stillen y-pipe in combination with a Nismo exhaust, so I'm not sure if I'll be keeping the y-pipe or selling it with my Nismo. If I do keep the y-pipe - would I want to get a mid-pipe custom bent w/ resonator? Or is there one I could buy that could directly swap with the stock mid-pipe?

I would find a stock mid pipe. Not worth the effort of fabricating something else to fit. Besides, you can re-coup some of the cost of the kit by selling that stuff off.

I have the nismo 3 inch mid pipe and it really didn't render any appreciable gains.
