Why don't you try Turbonetics in the valley 818 area in SOCAL. I forgot their number. Here is another

Turbochargers.com
Local: (713) 681-1111
Toll Free: (800) 749-7111
Facsimile: (713) 939-1111
Mon.-Fri. 9:00am-6:00pm CST

Also have someone drive behind you or have someone drive your car and you follow them to be sure what color the smoke it is. If it's slight blackness then it's no biggie just some fuel if it's white it could be condensation but if it's light blue, lik others have said make sure you don't have a blown seal. Could also be headgasket? Good luck

You are most likely passing some oil through the turbo seals. If your concerned about the motor do a compression and leak down test.

How much new seals run(excluding the cost of having them uninstalled and re-installed? How do they go bad?

I think with the Garret Dual BB turbos, you have to get a whole new cartridge for a rebuild if your seals are gone.

I hear they go for around 1k each.

sounds like you either have too much oil, or your exhaust has oil in it. Once i drained my exhaust, it went away for me.

^ a catch can is a great idea. Oil gets in your exhaust when your turbos over oil and can't return the oil back to the engine quick enough. It then blows out the exhaust side of the turbo seal. The more this happens the shorter the life span of your turbos. I'm my case, my installer over filled my oil level, i drove around on it for awhile like that, then it soaked my resonator in my Greddy EVO2 exhaust. We then put on a different exhaust ( made sure we had the right oil level) and the smoke never came back.

Paco he has a APS TT, his oil level will be different than yours. To answer your question he should run 5 1/2 qts with his set up. It's the same as mine unless he replaced the aps oil pan.

I also have the APS TT and it is VERY sensitive to the oil level. I installed an oil cooler last week and added just a bit too much of oil, maybe 1/2 quart. It was smoking on acceleration. After I drained the oil, it was fine. Make sure that you fill it up EXACTLY to the lower mark of the dipstick, nothing above (with the APS TT oil pan).

Good luck,

I think that the lack of crankcase ventilation during boost contributes to this issue for all FI applications, not just APS. A catch can that draws vacuum from both the intake manifold at rest and the turbo intake feed during boost, utilizing check valves to ensure suction into the catch can at all times seems like a reasonable first step to try to correct the problem. I think one of the secrets to get this to work well is to have a breather that allows fresh air into the system at all times as well. Suction alone will pull highly concentrated oil vapor/mist.

Good luck,
Paul, can you specify exactly what you mean by the lower mark on the dipstick? I'm having a little smoking and want make sure I'm at the right level.

Thanks!

The "L" mark on the dipstick or lower is the correct oil amount.I always use a little lower the "L" mark.
If you have forged pistons, the crankcase ventilation during boost is very afected , I needed and oil catch can to solve my problem after built the engine.
