If you have forged pistons, the crankcase ventilation during boost is very afected , I needed and oil catch can to solve my problem after built the engine.
I do have a built motor with the APS TT kit, so it's recommended to get an oil catch can?

^of course, there will always be some oil in the piping, its recommened because your FMIC wont get oil in there, and it wont enter your combusion and cause pinging

I had smoke problems after my built.
You need to reduce the crankcase pressure installing a catch can , the right side of the engine doesn´t have any vent , so you need to vent that side , otherwise you will have smoke.

UPDATE:

I followed the DIY oil catch can, and it works. The car is no longer smoking and its back to normal. I tested it with some spirited driving and popped the hood and there was oil in the catch can that would of made it too my plenum. I wish i did this at first. car is running normal. Thanks everyone for the advice, i really appreciate it.

Sorry to bump an old thread but my built APS TT is smoking a little under boost. Blue ish smoke so oil i hope. Can some one explain why people are only filling the oil to the L mark on the dip stick with the APS TT's?? I have custom oil returns into the upper oil pan and put 6.1L in the car last oil change a week ago. The cars running around 3/4 on the OEM dip stick.

Thanks.

They run to "L" to minimize smoking due to increased restriction in the return lines from running a high oil level (supposedly). In any case, since you have custom return lines, that should be a non-issue. You could be smoking because your return lines are not continually sloping downwards or because you are not venting crankcase pressure well enough or because your intake is sucking up oil while venting the crankcase because there is no catch can in between.

You should only have 5.5 to 5.75 qts of oil with the aps oil pan. 6.1L is to much oil that converts to 6.45 quarts of oil. You don't have enough room for the oil to return and it is backing up through the seals of the turbos.
