maybe the belt is slipping, or maybe it's a tuning issue

More than likely its timing being pulled and fuel being added . If you are running the kit out of the box with no tune yet . Vortech has the tune set up to pull a bunch of timing and adds a bunch of fuel at 6000 - 6500rpm's
