They had a minor issue with a fuel line not reaching a level 2 certificate of somesort, and only reached a level one, so whilst they are waiting for the CARB number they are sorting that out too.
Now, power! Yes the kit is only coming with an extra 50 horsepower out of the box, but i have been assured that that is because it has an extremely conservative tune, tuned on crappy fuel, to make sure there are no nasty bangs. HKS was playing it really safe. But i have been assured that any pro dealer will be able to get much more out of the kit with a good tune on proper fuel. Very promising.
HKS USA is currently running there shop Z with the base kit, an Fcon V-pro, and a smaller pulley, and there running around 450 whp. Obviously with an exhaust.
The pro kit won't be coming out any time soon, and it seems that it will be a totally different blower. It will run slightly higher boost, but the actual blower itself is going to be larger and so will be moving more air. HKS Japan is running durability tests on it now to make sure it holds up to the test of time. That's all i know so far, but i will keep digging.
That's a about a 150whp discrepancy. Hmm. I hope this is true.

This thing better be easily tuned to at least 360 whp out of the box to get me even interested in buying. Otherwise JWT it is.

Yes but the've got a lot of time on their hands to tinker with it, and the are using all their best stuff on it.

^^Saw them--cool stuff.

Also, it seems the HKS cams for non-revups are officially released in the US as indicated by the website today;

Ah nice one. 412 whp at 8.5 psi on an 03 with cams and low compression pistons is pretty good. Try it on stock compression your probably looking at another 15 -20 whp. Not bad at all.

OK, a little update then.

Still not 100% sure when the kit is coming out, but it will be very very soon. The kit will be launched with the Fcon SZ to start with, and eventually upgrade to the iS. The kit should be good out of the box for about 350-360 whp with upgraded injectors. That's completely stock with the stock pulley and SZ management properly tuned by the delear and upgraded injectors.
The stock kit will come with a locked tune, so delears won't be able to access what's already on there, but they will be able to start from scratch with a new tune.
As soon as the kit is tampered with or tuned it looses CARB approval (but what the cops don't see wont hurt them), as long as you keep it within reason.

The next bit of news i found is the launch of their new and improved CAMP 2, although i don't know much about it. Apparently it will give the Fcon Vpro guys the ability to monitor all parameters like the iS does on your dash monitor. As an added benefit to the iS guys, it will make the iS user tuneable, that's right, you will be able to tune your own Fcon iS, aswell as keeping the parameter monitoring function.
That's all i know for now.

nice info there!

What you say regarding the complete kit's carb status is completely true, if anything is changed/modified from the original configuration. Whether a cop could tell the difference if a pulley is changed or more agressive tune is used on the street is unlikely. I imagine that the HKS gt sc's will have a serial number on it and it will corresponsd (obviously) to HKS's records regarding its application (carb complete or not). A Carb certificate would then be issued to the buyer/owner of the kit, and this could be presented for proof of its carb status.

Is the Fcon sz that much different (less capable) than the is? Some tuning can still be done with the sz and bolt-ons, correct?

the iS is basically the replacement for the SZ. I think the only difference is that the iS has more resolution for tuning and A/F Feedback function, but at such low boost and power, there's not much difference in it. I think HKS has a few left over lying around, and they want to shift them, so they stick it with the GT SC, but once there out of them, they will go with the iS.

check out hks-power.co.jp, they've got street and race type headers. hkskansai.co.jp has some high flow cats for the Z
