Stock Block
Vortech w/ 2.87 pulley
CJM stage 1 FR
Utec
660cc injectors
Borla Exhaust
Test Pipes
MD 3/8" plenum spacer
I started with a basline of 361 whp then got up to 400, this was on a dynojet so it seemed pretty low for the mods, I had the AF perfect at ~11.4:1. I stopped because I thought that my timing was getting awfully high (I was at 14.5 at the 100% load site at redline) I was experienceing absolutely no knock on 93 octane.
any advice? do you think I still have room for more timing advance, most people with the 2.87 are putting up alot higher numbers than that on a DJ
not sure what what numbers you are seeing but 400whp is about right with your mods and a 2.87 pulley. im getting around 370whp with my 3.12. i expect to hit about 400whp with a 2.87 pulley.

i got the timrod fix and have the tensioner on pretttty tight, looks like i have to tighten it more.
what kind of timing are you guys running at max boost and redline?
I am still using the SS box and 3.12 pulley... I have no clue on my timing actually although I know it is fairly aggressive as I am running a mix of 91 and 101 oct gas.
I hit 380 rwhp on a dyno dynamics dyno which reads a bit low compared to a dynojet...
Looking at your plot from 6200 up it stays flat with a downward tendancy, this is where I think you might be slipping a bit.
I just got the GTM extra idler pulley and am going to install it tomorrow.

not sure if i got this right. U were on the 3.12 pulley before and on this dyno it was around 340 but once u put the 2.87 pulley on it jumped to 400? Is that correct? If so, that's 60hp increase so what are u complaining about? On average, ppl get only 30 hp increase from 3.12 pulley to 2.87. I would like to see what psi you are at and if it's slipping bc the timrod method is suppose to stop slippage.
Ok, I hope you dont mind, I played a bit... where I circled is where I think you can gain more power... I would tend to think slippage here....
I colored in where your power and TQ looks like where it should go... Kinda like my NVDA stock

no this is all 2.87, I went from 360 to 400 just messing with the timing
im hitting about 11.5 psi, not sure what the 2.87 is supposed to top out at
Is this on a 5AT or a 6MT?
was the 360 "before" tuned at all? As I said I am hitting 380 on a dyno dynamics on a 3.12 at 8.5psi and I am a 5AT... This on stock injectors and the SS box...
My main mods are in my sig....
I have RC 650's and a Utec waiting to go in as well as a Walbro... I am going to run the stock fuel rails.
11.5 sounds about right as far as your PSI... thats 3 more PSI than my 3.12 is giving me.
Once I get my 2.87 and Utec in I will let you know what I get out of it.
P.S. did you have to mill your 2.87 to get it to fit? Or did it just go on without any modification?
thanks.

i wouldnt be complaining if this was 400 hp on a dyno dynamics, but this was on a dynojet sae corrected with the smoothness on 5
and to answer the pulley question, no i didnt have to mill it it just needed to press it onto the jackshaft

I was reading this post by booger:

Here is a pic he posted of what happened when he installed the 2.87.

I just don't want to have these same issues as Booger did...
