Nice write-up. One piece of advice that I can offer is to NEVER use the tap with a drill. It should be done by hand. You should run in it a few turns then reverse it out. Do this until you have it all the way through. You can really f*ck up the hole if you go to crazy with the drill.

why aren't people trying the new layout from Vortech. The holes are all predrilled. I don't know if you even need to purchase new pulleys?

The kit does not come with a tap, you can get one at almost any auto parts store... I got mine at pep-boys.

Yeah, great point... If you do use a drill use a corded drill and be very careful and patient with it.... You do need to drill a small amount at a time, back it out, and drill more in incriments... Do not attempt to go all the way thru in one attempt... You will "F" it up.

Mine has been running flawlessly since the install and I am hitting 9.2 - 9.6 PSI with the 3.12 pulley... I am going to try the 2.87 pulley when I get the time to install the utec and get a re-tune for it.

Lol... nope no motor build Inzom... I think the 3.12 has a tad bit more in it than 9.... In the cooler weather at least and with a clean air filter... I remove / clean / oil my filter at least once a month now to keep her breathing nicely.

Right now I am hitting about 10 psi on average at redline with my 3.12 . Then again, I am revving to 7k instead of the stock 6600 so I get an extra psi up top.

What do you know about the Bando belt that comes with the kit? Better than a Gates?

The Bando belt looks pretty hefty. The flat part is textured in a way to grip pretty well, and it says anti-static & heat resistant. On the Bando website it says its oil resistant as well, which is good.

Bando is also the oem belt supplier for honda, toyota, mitsubishi, very good quailty and longevity, by far the best
