Default Stock Internals to Forged... Good #'s

Hey everyone!

For the ones who don't know me, here is my story:

I have my Greddy TT for almoust 3 years, 36K miles and stock internals... the car put 463 @ 8psi. My mods on that time:

Greddy TT, Pully, Test Pipes, Custom EVO II, WG Dumps, S1 Cams, APS Plenum, NGK 1 step, JWT Clutch Combo and Tech Reflash.

A couple of month ago I decide to change my internals (to much 500+whp cars around here ) so I contact Sharif to get the best forged pistons on the market for the VQ35DE "Arias HD", also put Eagle rods and the ARP's (Sharif, thanks for all that you did for me.)

Well last night after almoust 1000 miles of "break in" I went to the dyno for two reason's:

1) To see if the low comp pistons (9.0) affect the whp vs. the 10.3 stock comp. the car have the same set up than before (8psi, tech reflash and all the mods above)
2) To have a baseline for the others goodies that I have on my garage (750 Inj. AAM Return Fuel system and U-tech comp.)

The car put 445 whp (after two runs on 7psi and one on 8psi) it was very hot versus the day it put 463 HP.
In my opinion the car can put the same 460 hp and the difference in pistons compresion for any reason don't affect in this case... its suppoust to, but it didn't.

that would make it 400rwhp on Sharif's dyno...so I guess that would be the norm

ha ha true - but 3 yrs at those power levels is a long time on those skinny little stock rods. i guess until they fail, there's not much to see as long as the tune was good, eh?

Yep... look the Sept. and Oct. issues of Turbo Mag. there is some stuff about Puerto Rico street cars. There will be more stuff for the next 6 months. Robert Cho take a lot of pics down here, hopefully mine will be in one of them.

It look OK... not perfect but ok, I think that if you keep your A/F mix under 11.4 and bellow 470 whp the engine will last a long time...

yes, the tune was a simply Technosquare Greddy Reflash... with Utech, Fcon or EU it will be more safe.

Why do you guys think there is no difference in WHP between the Stock pistons and the Arias HD?

is there an advantage price or otherwise to buying forged internals and doing yourmotor build that way vs. the core exchange program?

well, honestly I don't know how much is the core thing... in my case I get another block and put the pistons, rods and ARP's (prices on forgedinternals.com)

Okay what is the weak link in the vq35de? Is it the pistons or rods? If you swap out on of them for aftermarket ones how much power would the motor be able to handle then?

^ You would really have to be out of your mind to change just one and not the other. Fiscally, it makes no sense.

It seems like the rods tend to let go before the pistons. But it all really depends on the situation. The extra engine I have parted out threw a rod- but the pistons were fine.

^I guess but a lot of Supra guys just swap out the their pistons since the stock rods are good for a 1000rwhp.
