Default Vortech w/3.12 pulley only 6lbs?

Whats up everyone, I got a situation here. To start, I just installed my vortech kit this past Friday and everything has been going smoothly for the most part. For reference, here is my setup:

- Stock block
- Vortech tuner kit with 3.12 pulley
- Utec with tuner reg wideband
- deatschwerks 650cc injectors
- walbro 255lph fuel pump
- megan racing headers
- intense resonated test pipes
- hks hi-power exhaust
- aps tallboy plenum

Whats happening here is that I am only making a little more then 6 lbs at redline. I know that with the 3.12 pulley I should be making at least 8lbs. So far I have done a boost leak test (connected a capped coupler with an air compressor connection to pressurize the motor) that showed no leaks and made sure the belt was tight so there is no slip. What else could it be? Any suggestions will help.

Thanks

I don't have a Vortech but from what I have seen posted on here that mods like headers, test pipes and so on, will make less boost on the Vortech.

Yeah, I understand that, but I know for sure it is not suppose to drop it 2-3 psi. Maybe 1 psi max.

looks like you live in arizona too, you get less boost with superchargers in hotter weather.

What kind of boost gauge do you have ? Have you put it on a dyno to compare your gauge with the one on the dyno ?

Your right 6psi is to low...I could see it on the stock pulley . When you preasurized the system ....did you include the BOV and intercooler ?

I am in AZ as well and just went for a drive. It was still 102 outside and I boosted to 8.4 w/ 3.12, HKS, SSV, stock headers, Kinetix RTP's, stock FMU, and SS box. I see as much as 8.8 when I really get on it.

I'm 5AT... He is 6MT

P.S. my damn fuel pump's still running... LOL... Battery disconnected atm.

turn your car off and read the boost gage on the utec. Mine says -1 psi with the car off because the calibration is off, and I thought it was a boost leak for about 2 months

Alright guys, I figured it out. I did another boost leak test and I had a leak from the MAF sensor housing. Also, my belt wasn't as tight as it could be. So I fixed the MAF housing with some paper gasket and tightened the belt. I was never so happy to see 8 psi . I am averaging right around 8 psi right now which is where it needs to be since its hot out and since I have a full header back. Now off to the dyno in the morning! I'll post up some numbers when I get back.

Thanks for the help!

i think vortech has been having welding problems. My vortech also had a boost leak found it when i engaged my meth injection. Where the hard piping meets the the MAF sensor the weld doesnt let the connection become tight. remedy take off piping and grind weld boost leak fixed. I hope
