Nice!! Congrats. Yeah I spoke with GTM yesterday and they did have my Vortech back. It hasn't been reinstalled in my G yet because they are doing some other work too. But they did get it back and it should be ready to go this Saturday.

Although it was not for a Z it was for a Eclipse v6

1)Yes
2)December 05
3)December 05
4)35 miles
5)Turbine blades rubbed the housing. I was not the only one with this problem either. Seems like it is a Vortech issue with poor quality, sorry to see you guys having the same problems still. It also took forever for them to warranty it for me.

As for the cheap parts, they use SKF bearings which i hear are not that great.

My G is done but GTM needs a little bit more time to tune so it looks like I will be picking my G up on Monday.

Default It Got Us, Too ! ! ! !

We have about 600-700 miles on the new install (yes, the long write-up on the '06 RevUp) and noticed a new noise that was deeper and raspier on my husband's trip home from work. He had to continue for another 10 miles and the sound just got worse. Listening to it at home you could hardly stand to be close to the car, it hurt your ears it was so loud. There was also an intermittent chirp or ping of metal hitting metal.

My avatar is a picture I took when I was still in the USAF and flying, so I know a bit about turbine noise and what it sounds like when it all goes wrong (I crash-landed in an F-4 once in England,..... but that is another story) and this was/is definitely wrong. We shut it down, immediately and took the air cleaner off and it revealed where the impeller blade has been hitting one side of the housing.

It's going back to Vortech in the morning. GRRRRRRR

So, we ordered the Vortech from Jeremy at Performance Factory in the group buy in August and got it around the end of the month. We installed it ourselves throughout September and had it tuned in the first part of October. We drove it 200 miles from Houston without a problem. My husband has been taking it to work for the last two weeks and after about 600 miles, total, it has 'gone south'.

Jeremy has said that some other kits from the group buy have had similar problems and that Vortech has been very good about replacing them (as you have posted so far). We hope we get the same speedy treatment. We will post pictures after we have the unit out of the car.

UPDATE
1 week after my original post mine went south also . Loud whine coming from the supercharger. When asked vortech spun bearing . I then asked how with only 5k on the blower he said most likely over spun I then asked how that could be I was told with non stock pulley . Which I informed him I did not have and did not race my car with that he said gee thats weird . When I asked him about other 1s going bad he said no not many thats when I told him either all the people who have bought their blowers in the last few months on this forum are lying or you are to that there was no reply he had to go.
But I did get it back installed with test pipes and have noticed the original blower never was working right from the get go. so put on a innovate a/f Gage along with a defi boost . Now all I have to do is drive 500 miles to get it dyno tuned Also burke test pipes claim to not need antifoulers WRONG but really made the car come to like well worth it and did not make it any louder except when stepping on it cruising just as quiet.

How Vortech deals with what seems to have become a recall issue on poorly manufactured blowers will define what kind of company they are and will send a message to future potential buyers...

Vortech listen and face up to a mfg systemic problem and notify buyers of this potential problem.. Also tell what the source of the problem is and how you intend to fix the problem.

Reading through all of this is definitely making me re-think the entire FI option. Im not technically savvy when it comes to this type of setup. very good reputation. But again, scary to hear all of this none the less. Scary to hear all of this.

I assume install of FI and any damages to engine resulting from these type of failures would generally void a Nissan warranty (unless they install themselves) ??

1) Purchased from performance factory
2) November
3) November
4) 750 miles
5) grinding noise at the impeller
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nm77EdD8y-M

600 miles from home. at least i was only 2 miles from my friend's house when it started. Car went to limp mode, so i could only go 20 mph to get back there. Will have to call vortech on monday and ship on wednesday overnight.

What all paperwork does Vortech need to warranty these?

Damn, that sucks bro. Does the serial # fall into the category of the ones Vortech said had the bad bearings?

I hope you are not planning to drive home with your SC messed up like that. That's not a good idea.
