Default Removing MAF sensor?

How many UTEC users have removed their MAF sensor? Not sure if I'm understanding correctly. Documentation says that if you have the MAP sensor for speed density fueling, you can remove the MAF for more air flow.

Then you've got to have the UTEC controlling everything... Also with no MAF, you're gonna throw a CEL - no idea how'd you'd fix that without a reflash at least. I doubt many run with no MAF at all in place.

Haven't measure a G35 MAF however Nissan usually limits MAF flow restriction to < 7" water column so pulling the element might only gain 4-5" /27.7 = 0.144 x 6.8 or <1% less restriction.

A few issues, the Utec still uses the ECU to control the 0% column or idle/cruise areas, so that alone would prevent you from doing it the car would not run.

Second as mentioned you would get a CEL and thirdly you would lose intake temp reading.

Westpak,

you can set your open loop fuel parameters to start at -10 psi and go up to whatever psi you need. In theory, you'd have the UTEC in control of fuel and timing all the time with those settings. I've never tried it, and I'm not planning on it either, but I believe that is what the OP wanted to know.

So it basically acts as a standalone then, right?

Correct. When we remove the MAF on Haltech cars an air temp sensor must be wired back in and calibrated.

you can but it depends on what range of psi he is talking about 11 columns is just tight for a wide range and virtually not an option when boosting even low boost for a smooth operating car
