I know the urge to build the car is strong . But let me tell you....keep your original goal of next year . The education is far more important and once you start spending $ on modding your car for power . 10 grand will be just the starters . You have no idea if funny little problems will arise , or if the motor will let go leaving the parking lot of the shop the day you pick it up .

if you were robbed for 10grand right now..would you able to survive day to day without assistance? If no, then you aren't ready to get your tt.

im a college sophomore myself, and my car is going to Forged next month for my greddy install, and i am getting more excited by the day, its going to be awesome. but booger is right about a couple of things. 10k (which is what this project is going to cost me) is really just the start, and there really is no end to the money you can spend on your car. definitely stay focued on school (i could definitely take a dose of my own advice sometimes).

and if you have student loans, honestly i would look at paying those off before boosting, but if you dont, and you are fortunate enough to have (a lot) of disposable income then by all means do it! just save money and work hard, spending $10 here for dinner and $20 on beer there really add up over time. im not saying dont have fun, just keep your eye on the ball and your day will come grasshopper.

btw, how old are you and what college do you go to?

Are you MT or AT?

I haven't dynoed mine yet, but I have no engine mods except the JWT TT kit and HKS exhaust and my builder (Scott @ RA) is estimating between 350whp and 370whp.

For 400 whp, you'll do fine with what you've chosen so far for mods. Listen to booger and wait till your out of school. Going FI takes up a lot of personal time as well as money. It's of course your choice but I would think it's probably not the best time for that.

test pipes= illegal!
my exhaust only needs to be 1 more pipe to be true dual= its fine the way it is!
be safe with all the power

Actually only 8 yrs. 4 yrs undergrad + 4 yrs med school. you get paid during residency and if you don't have a wife or kids (or better yet even a girlfriend) then you'll be able to splurge on your car . Of course you won't have time or even a life during residency (or even after) but hey - if you wanna be a surgeon, go for it.

I'm not trying to start anything here, but if he has the money to finish the project in hand, and he is doing ok in school, then what is the problem? i would agree with what you are saying completely if he has student loans that he's going to hace to pay off, but otherwise whats the big deal? i can see how it could be a distraction maybe, but im doing fine in school and have a job to pay for my car obsession.

I did say it was his choice. IMO it's a very bad idea for him to get into something (as you say an obsession) that could potentially negatively impact the rest of his career. You may be doing fine, but you could be doing better with more time devoted to academics and less to your job and car (again IMO). All depends on your priorities. One bad grade in one damn class and you can wipe half the med schools off your list to apply to. I've been through it all - my 2 cents - don't mean to sound like an old fart (cause I'm not old )

well, im in a major called construction science and management, so med school isnt something im considering, nor would i want to. but i work primarily on the weekends to avoid conflicts with school. this means that i am usually tied up at my job until about midnight on fridays and saturdays. so my trade off isnt class or studying, because i wouldnt do that on friday or saturday nights anyways, nor would most people. my trade off is that i dont get to starting hitting the sauce on fridays and saturdays until about midnight, sometimes a little later, and i miss some of our home football games. some people would not like that, but i generally enjoy working, i love making money, and i know when i pick up my car from Forged in a month, some of the partying that i missed out on will be well worth it as soon as i get into boost for the first time

Sounds like you've got your goals set and your life well organized. Kudos. Enjoy the well-deserved boost!!! Another Forged brotha!

i graduated in construction mgmt from LSU (basically the same thing you are going for). Good career choice imo because there are a TON of opportunities out there right now.

i started my off at clemson last year as a mechanica engineer, and honestly, i lied to myself an kept trying to convince myself i was mathematically inclined. i finally decided it wasnt for me and thought csm looks like an interesting major. good money, i'll get to be outside, and its an industry that will alway be around. hopefully i made a good choice
