Turning up the boost ?
I have a stock block with the greddy twins at 6 psi. What i want to know is....i am putting on test pipes and having dave at functiontuned do the tuning.Do i have to have a boost controller to up the boost to 9 psi and will i need larger fuel injectors and a fuel return system for about 400rwhp or just a tad more.I also have a spare block which will be rebuilt over the winter for more boost and i know ill need bigger injectors and a return system for that.
Thanks,keith.
Thanks,keith.
Hey Keith...
Boost controller - yes, unless you opt for wastegate springs for the TiALs. Injectors are big enough to handle 400whp and the return system is optional at this point IMO. But, all of this is really up to you and Dave. I'm sure he won't steer you wrong.
Good luck and keep us posted

you will need a boost controller to turn it up to 9psi. you can buy another set of springs, but the next ones up will put you around 11psi I believe.
I have a greddy profec II boost controller in excellent condition for sale. $200shipped.

Well, obviously the boost controller wouldn't be a waste of money. But you then would have to have tune for those boost levels. That's were I would ask the question, is it worth it? The car can handle it. But I don't know past experience with the car and how hard it's been beat on. Nothing is guaranteed, but I think it would be worth it. If you get several more months out of it then I don't think it would be waste. Heck, you might get another year, you never know. But it sounds like your ready for anything.

All I was referencing is the fact you have chosen a tuner, why not get his recommendations and go from there?
the profec isn't the HKS with all the bell and whistles, but it is more than adequate to accomplish the job supercharger is looking for....9psi. I've been running it for a couple of years at 16psi with no problem. It isn't the HKS EVC, but it won't cost him $500 either.

IMO on this...... yes get a boost controller..... as far as the FRS i think you would need one to get up to 400rwhp.... cuz when i had my Z tuned with just the 440cc injectors and the walbro 255 all i got was 396 rwhp and 386 torque..... so i guess you could say i had 400 rwhp..... but the again i know a guy that had an FRS, 760cc injectors and a walbro 255 and i think he got into the 400's but then again he had a better exhuast than i did.....
so Good Luck on the build and happy boosting.... i did a build so im past the 400 mark now.... lol

The Profec always worked fairly well at mild boost, but pretty jumpy once you hit double digit boost levels. We struggled with it for a year, until the Blitz SBC and then the HKS EVC6 came out.
If you a good deal on it, no harm it giving it a try, since you will be running lower boost.
