Depends on what you are trying to achieve out of the car?
strict 1320 or normal everyday driving?

Just a weekend driver something "mild" if you can call it that.... Maybe a TH700 or Turbo 350?

Yea I guess you've been out of the loop for a while. For 08 model vettes GM introduced and LS3 that is making for a very nice motor and with minor mods putting out power very close to the LS7.

It is a 6.2L now. I don't know if the heads and intake manifold have been changed though. The LS2s had significant changes to the heads (port shape, etc) over the LS1s FWIW.

run a viper-spec T56 is you want a manual.
if you want an auto, go with a TH350 or TH400; if you want over drive, get a GearVendors Overdrive unit for it. It'll turn your 3 speed auto into a tight ratio 6-speed auto w/ overdrive. for street use, get a fairly tight convertor; you'll have plenty of torque anyway (especially on the laughing gas!)

700r4's can be built to about 700rwhp and have a lower 4th gear than our stock 6th.

I'd love to have a V8 Z with a manual trans. Nothing fancy like Noah's build, just a nice, simple, Titan engine swap with a 6-speed.
