GT Motorsports = GODLIKE

OK, if there is any more BS in MY THREAD I have no option but to ask the mods to lock this (if they will). I did not make this thread to bash Sam; IF YOU HAVE A BAD EXPERIENCE OR PROBLEM WITH SAM/GTM FEEL FREE TO MAKE YOUR OWN THREAD, DON'T DERAIL MINE.
Anyways I want to make a few CORRECTIONS and EXPLANATIONS.
The term "Godlike" is used jokingly by me often. This has to do with several videogames/computer games that I play where you can get to "Godlike" etc . . . . it just means awesome, cool, etc. SAM DOES NOT WALK ON WATER AND GTM IS NOT A RELIGON. Please get this out of your systems.
Secondly, I CAN'T post Dynos because I don't have a scanner. I'm in California right now at my friend's grandparent's home visiting; I'm on dial-up, and guess what, I won't be home for another few days. But suffice it to say Sam made me 2 maps both with adequate amounts of power, and I thank him for that.
Driveability - my Unichip tune was good, but not AMAZING. My car was overboosting, running SUPER RICH, my BOV was creating issues once in a blue moon, etc. GTM fixed it. I do not know what a "perfectly tuned" Unichip feels like, but I will say that the F-Con felt a million times smoother. The transition from negative boost to positive boost feels natural and smooth. Before it felt like an explosion of power. Now it just feels almost stock . . . until you look at your speedometer.
I also want to address the "waiting" issue. READ THIS CAREFULLY. I brought the car to GTM on Wednesday morning. Sam said it would be done on Friday. I drove to Ontario/Rancho Cucamonga on Friday evening, and Sam called me in the middle of my trip, saying the car is not done. I said, "OK, no problem, take your time I want it to be perfect." Sam stated it should be done by Saturday but I decided not to take chances, and wait for a final phone call from Sam.
Come Saturday Sam calls me, saying that he wants additional time to tune my car. I said OK cool, he says he might have it done on Sunday. I say whatever, again take your time to make it good. So I don't hear from him for another day, and he calls me Monday night, saying the car is done and told me the dyno numbers it made. I was SUPER HAPPY. I went to GTM on Tuesday afternoon, and waited like TWO HOURS for Sam to get to my car because he is a busy man. I'M NOT COMPLAINING??? The guy has a million things to do. Give him some slack, it'll be all right, Not the end of the world, right? Sam finally gets to my car, we spend like half an hour or so road tuning the thing. Sam finishes up by setting up my F-Con Navigator and finalizes the settings on the Boost Controller (EVC6).
It's amazing what a little bit of patience can do. My car was there for 4 days beyond what I expected. I just said oh well, Sam is busy can I can understand that he has other projects to work on as well, not just my car. The end result is what mattered the most to me, and it was PERFECT.
Finally, I must say that GT Motorsports went beyond my expectations. Yes I did pay a premium, but the quality of service that I got, and the FINAL PRODUCT that I received was well worth it. Will I be going back to GTM? It is hard to say because I am 900 miles away. If I lived closer I would. I'd like to, yes, but there are also competent shops locally that I can go for other things as well. So please don't call me a GTM nuthugger - Sam is an awesome tuner and I thank him for his work.
As far as power levels and the time of dyno-ing, I don't really give a crap about that. I live in Washington, in very high elevation. It's colder up here and cars always make more power anyways. So whatever.
I'm not gonna post dynos until Sam makes a thread about my car becauase they're just numbers. Car definitely feels faster, smoother, runs PERFECT. I went in for a tune not to make massive amounts of power, but to have my car RUN BETTER. The fact that Sam DID MAKE MORE POWER is a plus. I would NOT care if his 9psi Map made only 400whp and the 7psi Map made 350whp.
Again I am just stating my experiences. GTM is a great shop. They charge what I believe is a FAIR price. If you have to badmouth them, GO MAKE YOUR OWN THREAD. Don't hijack this one. Onlookers with FI/going FI can decide for themselves what GTM is like. Hell, the best thing to do is to call up several shops and pick one. Which shop what person chooses is their own decision, we can't make it for them.
To Sam and the GTM crew - thanks for getting my car back to me at a level beyond what I initially expected, even if it took you guys longer than planned. I'd rather wait for something good than rush and get something half-assed.

You think you have a long drive, ive got to drive from vancouver in april for a wedding/utec tune.
Sam says he can give it a 91 octane tune, but i run 94 in canada ALL the time, so should i have him tune aggressivley on 91 or just moderate and feel really safe on 94, looking for opinions....
TIA.

Devil Z has the right attitude
Anyone who wants their car modded by a shop that goes in demanding they do everything in 1 day is going to end up having ulcers from stressing over every little minute that ticks by.
unpredictable things happen. If your wife had an appointment for brain surgery, you wouldn't be sitting there tapping your foot demanding that the surgeons hurry the hell up because you have other things you need to be doing

Sorry if I was part of the derailing of this thread but it just erks me when people come on and post hearsay and rumors in supposedly a happy occasion thread.
Congrats on your numbers and enjoy the power.

GTM is an upscale shop....they do good work...they get paid for it .
Nuff said !!!!!!!
Devil Z,
When you drove your car down in the first place and left it there, did you drive back up to Washington? Or the whole time you were waiting between friday - monday were you staying in Cali?

LOL at all the haters saying GTM is expensive.
They charge $110 an hour which is inline with what most shops in big cities charge. There aren't in located in the middle of cow pasteurs, ya know yall? I am happy to hear that some of you still live in areas of the country where $15K/yr is considered wealthy, but unfornately that is not the case in SO CA and a lot of other areas.

If Canadian ratings are anything like Australian octane ratings, it could make serious problems.
The best thing you could do is bring several gas cans of Genuine Canadian Premium to the power tuning session. That will keep you safe and optimized.
