Vortech fitment question for RevUp owners.
So I was backing out of my driveway, I have to take it at an angle cuz my driveway is kinda steep and I scrape my TS front end. So this morning I guess I took too aggressive of an angle and it made my G kinda teeter (sp?) and when this happened, it made the body of my G flex a bit. When it flexed, I heard this crazy noise like something was rubbing. I drove to work and everything was fine. When I got to work I popped my hood just to check and I saw that the crankshaft pulley had rubbed up against the piping for my SC when the body of my G flexed. I could see the mark left on the piping. Is the crankshaft pully supposed to be that close to the piping?? If I had to take a guess I would say it's like a mm or 2 clearance. I turned my G on and it doesn't rub but damn, is it supposed to be that close?
Okay, cool. I'm not sure if the piping is the same for both kits but I'm pretty sure the crankshaft pulley is in the same place for both engines. I was just really suprised to see how close the piping is to the crankshaft pulley. I mean, I've inspected my engine bay before just to make sure everything looks good but I guess I never really paid attention to the fitment. I might have to loosen the piping and see if I can pull that pipe a little bit further away from the crankshaft pulley.
For my nonrevup, its just however I position the charge pipe as to how close it is to the crank pulley. I say to just loosen the couple and shift the pipe to be away from the pulley, then you should be ok.
I have the non revup on my g and when I first installed the s/c the piping did rub on the crank pulley. It took me awhile to adjust it but now its sits barely off the pulley, but it doesn't rub any more

Damn, yeah mine is too close. I had to brake kinda hard on my way home and I heard the piping hit the crank pulley again. Thank god for the long weekend. I'll get a chance to adjust the piping. It doesn't rub while I'm driving, just if I brake hard or have to take a steep driveway at a crazy angle.
Mine has rubbed several times and a little adjustment is all it takes . Mine is getting close to being a hole in the pipe....lol

ive got a decent bit of clearance. Maybe .5 inch. My pipe is hugging the fan shroud. Then again, non revup 350z.
Would something like that be covered under the vortech warranty or is it an installer issue? Sounds like a mixture of both to me. The installer shouldnt have to use a pry bar to get the pipe to fit right because vortech didnt get the pipe bent out of the way.

Yup I had a pretty nice ding on the piping of the SC from the crankshaft pulley. I loosened the fittings and was able to pull the pipe away from the crankshaft pulley enough for there to be about 1/2 an inch or so of distance. That should be cool for now. I'll definitely have to keep an eye on it though.
