Advantages of Raising Rev Limiter on 5AT

My VIN is 820... and it has the TCM embedded in the VB like the newer trannys. The rev limiter is very hard - very embarrassing to hit it trying to pass someone (and a bit dangerous because it's hard to shift with the car bucking like a 2 yr old throwing a tantrum)
Even with a raise rev limiter, the stock shift points are unchanged. But, if you are boosted, it gives you a bit of a buffer between the time the ECU starts pulling timing and fuel if on a stock VB and it can't complete the shift before you would hit the stock redline vs having it raised.
In manumatic mode, you can take full advantage of the higher redline.

I don't mind that the stock shift points remain unchanged in regular auto mode. That will be just fine for when I'm daily driving or regular street/highway commuting. In those situations, I wouldn't be getting on the boost hard or revving it high anyway.
When I'm doing any "spirited" driving or I'm at the track, I'll use the manual mode through the Works Bell column shifters to take full advantage of the raised redline. In preliminary discussions with Jason Siebels a while back, we talked about setting redline at 8000 or 8500RPM. Once my build is complete and we're ready to have him tune it, I'll go with whatever his recommendation is.
I think Bert had a couple too many beers that night
......You would of definitely felt the fuel cut off at 7500 rpm based on your stock rev limit.
IIRC in auto mode I have also had it shift after the stock rev limit setting so I figured it was because my rev limiter was raised.
