Advantages of Raising Rev Limiter on 5AT
Are there any advantages to raising the rev limiter on a 5AT? I ask because I want to know whether the car will still shift wherever the TCM is programmed to shift or can this be bypassed in Tip mode? I don't think anyone has created a solution to reprogramming the TCM on these cars which stinks. It would be nice to increase line pressure and all other aspects of the trans.
Even with a raise rev limiter, the stock shift points are unchanged. But, if you are boosted, it gives you a bit of a buffer between the time the ECU starts pulling timing and fuel if on a stock VB and it can't complete the shift before you would hit the stock redline vs having it raised.
In manumatic mode, you can take full advantage of the higher redline.

So, if your in Manual Mode, you can shift at whatever you flash the redline at? Thats what i'm trying to determine. I really wish there was software to manipulate the tranny settings.

In other words, Nissan used a different form of rev limiting in the newer cars. Since none of the EMS systems today control the throttle, they do not have the capability to alter this.
I will say one thing since i put in the fp valvebody(bought from zulater)when i took alberto out for a spin,i left it in full auto mode and it shifted hard as crap, and bert said he saw 7500 rpm.Well that scared the **** outta me cause i wasnt watching the tach and he was so i shift manual mode all the time when i get on it.I did not have the rev limiter changed either.
I think Bert had a couple too many beers that night
......You would of definitely felt the fuel cut off at 7500 rpm based on your stock rev limit.
IIRC in auto mode I have also had it shift after the stock rev limit setting so I figured it was because my rev limiter was raised.

Are you saying that there are 2 forms of limiters on the 350/G or is there a fuel cut for the pre Rev-Ups and a throttle cut for the Rev-Ups? I talked to several tuners and both said that the only way to go around the limiter is to have a flash and mine is not a Rev-Up motor. I also have the Fcon Vpro. I would have thought for that kind of money you could do whatever you want and was very dissappointed to learn you couldn't.
