Would this do the trick or would it create more back pressure then desired?

The old "banana in the tailpipe trick".
The downpipes aren't casted right? I can't imagine a casted piece from the turbo to the Cat-back exhaust.
A muffler shop can fit your stock cats on.

so basically they would need to cut the downpipes in order to fit the cats? I might just try and aquire the cast piece from APS that allows me to bolt the cats on instead of a downpipe. Do you think that would give me sufficient back pressure?

Good luck on getting those downpipes.
Way cheaper to get them fixed but whatever floats your boat.
That might help it, probably wont fix it.
Are you using the stock tune?
A new tune will probably fix it.

yea I might just take it to get a tune and see what they make of it before I order those aps parts.

Yea.. APS told me each of the castings are 216.56.. pretty pricey...

Weslutes: Nah im not using the stock tune, my tune is decent, but its for the old aps actuators so the boost line is way different.

How much do you think it would cost to get cats put into my downpipes?

I think paying 500 or so shipped for those castings is a ripoff... :P

Yeah, they're not known for giving the best deals.
Exhaust shops vary.

On a side note, i'm trying to figure out my aquamist system.
What WI are you using? (you can pm me)

Hmmm, what exhaust you running? What actuators? Greddy TT's? By open test pipes you mean you just had the test pipes -> atmosphere? no exhaust?

i had a greddy TT with external wastegates. was just test pipes -> atmosphere. i hear people fighting to save the tazmanian fruit bats like people that have open test pipes . but im running a AAM Ti 3" TD. Id have to say though it holds boost a lot better with the exhaust on. But the variances when i had test pipes werent to bad. at most it would spike @ 9.4lbs of boost. This is with the AEM TruBoost Unit

Well im still experiencing boost creep...I have a tune date set for tommorow and im worried it will be unsuccessful... Fairly sure this creep is due to too little backpressure with my 2.5" setup. No other reason that I can think of.

Ive been searching rx7 forums and DSM forums and I havent come up with anything to resolve this creep besides porting the wastegate... or having some cats installed. Any idea if I could just install 2" gaskets? Would that create any backpressure? Probably isnt that simple but I figure I might as well ask.

second waste gate, seriously I have the aps single kit with 38mm tial wastegate and a qtp electronic cut out and it was over boosting with the cutout open and closed. long story short additional 44mm wastegate fixed it
