Default Who runs copper plugs?

I'm contemplating going with copper plugs (1-step colder) for my Vortech setup, and just changing them every 10k miles. i've read through a lot of threads regarding plugs. From what I've gathered, platinum is not recommended for FI but rather Iridium plugs are better suited. Copper plugs will work, but will need replacing sooner.

I use NGK coppers. I have used both the copper and the iridiums, and I find no difference at all.

Plus, I like to changes my plugs fairly often; so, the coppers make more sense, and they are easier to change the gaps. For some reason, NGK says not to adjust the gaps on the iridiums.......I guess it is easy to break off the iridium electrode tip if you bump it.

I use copper plugs. Way cheaper and they actually have a "stronger" spark then iridium.

What part number are you guys using? I looked for copper plugs about a year and could not find a suitable plug for the VQ. Platimun suck for boosted cars and we have seen Iridiums fail at high boost levels. Never had a problem with copper plugs on any motor, ever.

Not sure at the moment, but I can check later. I think it was the exact same as the iridium, but without the iridium lettering at the end.

I'd be interested too

I'd replace my plugs every 10k miles probably anyway. Might as well save some money and get a plug that has more spark

Copper is ideal on FI cars and the most inexpensive. Just make sure you change them regularly.

We recommend NGK, Nissan OEM plugs are also made by NGK as well. The one step colder is a great idea for FI, BTW.

Yes 5 is standard, so 6 is one step colder and 4 would be one step hotter.

Chris,

they are stock gap. .044". actually, the "-11" in the part number is the gap size in millimeters. they are a 1.1mm gap (.044")

So why do a lot of Vendors sell the LFR6AIX-11 for FI cars if this is .44?

Because it is platinum or Iridium and you can get away with a larger gap. Evenually though, you will experience spark blow-out if you run enough boost. We always set our gap lower on the platinum or Iridium plugs. .032 is pretty typical when we deal with these plugs and the VQ.
