Was it worth it? I am kicking the idea around of trying to install my own Vortech tuner kit at the beginning of the year. Of course I am going to go somewhere to have it tuned, but I believe that it could be fun/challenging to install my own kit
. On a difficulty scale, how hard did you guys find it to be? I am somewhat mechanically inclined, and also have access to any sort of tool I would be needing. I think that with enough time and patience I can most likely have it done...I wouldnt dare to tackle twins, but I think I might be able to do a Vortech. Discuss.

I installed my own Vortech kit, and it wasn't too hard. The hardest part is running into issues like a bolt not coming off or squeezing things into spaces with limited space. If you have a helper, it will be much easier with a second pair of hands.

Vortech install was a breeze. Just set aside a weekend and go for it. I read the manual so many times and made sure i had all the right tools.
I dont know what bolts theyre talking about being in cramped spots, the only bolts the tuner kit has is 4 for the intake and like 7-8 for the mounting bracket and for for the ic which are all pretty accessible.
Are you adding injetors, utec and a walbro? youll want to get rid of the ur pulley and use either the stock or the fliud dampner type pulley.

I would say its worth it. Everytime something does not seem right, you know what to look for rather than trailering the car up to the shop and have them look at it.
Basically, If something isn't right I generally know where to look.
Plus I had a good time installing my kit.

I really want to do the Turbonetics by myself and it should be no problem. But I want a TT setup more (not sure why cause I don't want a ton of power). I reeeeally want to do the install myself but doing the TT just scares me for some reason.

I already have the UTEC installed so that isn't an issue. I take it the walbro + injectors arent too difficult to install then? One more thing, why would I want to remove the UR pulley?

something will go wrong, it's part of heavy modding like FI. Being able to troubleshoot the issues yourself will save you time and money. That is exactly the reason I did my vortech install, so I could learn and I would be able to figure out problems...of course with the help of the wonderful my350z community

Also, if you don't have it you will need the MAP sensor for your UTEC.
BTW if you need some 440 injectors I have some I can sell ya for a good price. Just PM me.
Make sure you get a fuel pressure gage!
Get an OIL filter sandwich adapter (I have Greddy) and hook the oil feel line to it, less connections than vortech's setup + their location off the oil pressure sensor tap is a biotch to get to/tighten. + if you decide to get an oil temp sensor you will have another port already there
make your own CAI that puts the filter up front somewhere (mine sits on the FMIC). This will make it easier to clean the filter, otherwise you have 2 choices. 1 damage the filter trying to force it out. 2 take out the SC just to clean the filter.
These are just some things I recently dealt with on my install
