I think I'll just borrow Westpak's idea and create a joint for access to bring fluid to the inlet in front of the thermostat. I wouldn't want to deprive any coolant to the thermostat side. I will probably cut off the nipple of the bypass and weld it closed on the passenger side leading down to the oil cooler.

Can you use both? Example can you just put the oil cooler sandwich after the stock oil cooler. I would rather leave that alone. I still want an oil cooler but I want to leave the stock cooler as well. Does this work?

heck, thats no problem. I have, in the following order:

stock oil cooler/warmer
sandwich with 2 ports for gauges (oil temp and oil press)
thermostatic sandwich for oil cooler

No problems whatsoever. It is a bit tight trying to get the oil filter off, but not too bad. I can still fit an oil filter wrench on it.

Can you take a picture of that? sounds like there's more going on in there than in a "DP" scene in a porno.

Ok, here you go. From right to left, you have the stock oil cooler/warmer, the sandwich with gauge ports, the thermostatic oil cooler sandwich, and the oil filter. Like I said, it all fits
