Default Thank you MRC

Well today was a great day!!! I feel like I just made a huge step forward in my rebuild. As many of you know I am experiencing some technical problems with my build. To put it plain and simple...After taking time to remove my old engine and install a built engine along with installing a Greddy TT kit, new clutch and exhaust, and too much to list, I brought the car to get tuned and suffered an engine failure.

SH&T happens!...Especially in the FI game.

One of the issues I needed to address is the actual Turbos status and whether or not they are still any good.

Well, one visit over to MRC took care of that. Following up on an offer to help from Julian proved very inspiring. I brought him the 2 turbos to be re-evaluated. We simply drove down about 2 miles to the NJ Greddy Factory where we had the Greddy Top technician Tim take a look at them. Tim said, "We will send these over to Greddy in California and have these rebuilt." See you in about 2 weeks.

Greddy does warranty their products for up to 1 year, but i do believe there are special circumstances that simply won't be covered. (I don't want to get into what they are). I guess obvious abuse might be one, which is not the case for me. What sucks is that I still haven't even driven the car with boost. The turbos are only 2 months old anyway.

Bottom line, Julian helped me to get my turbos warrantied!

One less headache to deal with...Especially after all of that hard work.

I am not here to start any "He said", "she said" about the build, because in my opinion the jury is still out. I drove the car for 1000 miles to break her in and she drove beautifully. Then it crapped out.

I will be back!! Today Julian helped me to take a huge step forward. So I want to give Julian over at MRC a big shout out!

Thank You Very Much!
(Hey Julian, wanna try out for the Yankees? )

I as I witnessed this entire event with my own eyes and ears, I couldn't be more impressed with julians generocity. I have been on the sideline of Randy's build observing and learning. Bottom line is that I would not hesitate to do any business with julian @MRC after seing everything he did for Randy.
Bottom line is that I would recoment MRC to everyone who wants things done to their Z's or G.

I'm not sure what you are speaking of...just PM me. A few weeks ago I was hunting for a garage to put my car into in order for me to get the motor out.

Now I just have to work my butt off to pay for all of the replacement parts I will need now that my motor blew.
I will most likely need a new crank, cams, Valve Job, new valves, new rods, new rings, new head gasket and more. Once that is paid for (after I die) I will get my motor back and I have to break it in, and then get it tuned.

Thanks god its winter and not prime time summer. i hope to be ready in time for Z-Day. I want to ride with the all the big dogs. Can't wait to get back on the road.

What a guy that Julian is, he should be commended, maybe even a medal of some sort. How about getting the new built motor waranteed, that would be impressive. I know a few shops that even could offer you that, and sometimes even get the factory to even warantee a stock motor that had been TT'ed.
It was a built motor, and it does have a warranty, but the warranty does not cover damage incurred from what some may call "abuse" on a dyno. So back to square one. The warranty does cover against defects in the machine work.

Yes Julian is being commended. He didn't have to help me at all. But he did.

In the past Julian had made fun of Chris's car at PF with issues on a built motor-Karma is a b!tch, I think Shamrocks comment was "fair"-you give it you have to take it.

OP-It is nice to read that MRC/Greddy took care of you. Do you guys know what failed in the engine, any idea why? What was wrong with the turbos?

Is Julian coming back, or is this a perma-ban?

Shamrock's comment has nothing to do with that.. he is trying to make light of Julian's geneoristy.. all that happened to Randy's car has nothing to do with Julian

Julians generosity? I think what he did was commendable, and expected of a well known and respected shop owner in the community. Regardless of how I/others feel about him, he takes care of his customers, shamrock was just being a smart a$$.

Basically 2 rod bearings failed and 2 main bearings failed. Once disassembled we found a lot of (bearing) metal sinders coating the oil pan, so more than likely some metal may have gotten into the turbo and POOF!
Dead Turbo!
