^ Thats better than a questionable return policy and a 3 month wait time while your turbos are being looked at in austrailia...

Dead Turbo!
glad you are making progress

the bearing issue unfortunately is not unheard of at all. There are lots of combinations of bearings that these motors will accept...I forget the total number of permiatations there are but it's more than your average motor for sure. It's very easy to make an "oops" during assembly, and install the wrong one. While it probably would never rear its head during normal use, as soon as you put any sort of meaningful boost through it and things get up to temperature, the nasty stuff starts happening.

Which 2 rod bearings and which 2 mains failed?

I know Randy personally, He is a cool guy..I met Julian a few times and he is cool also!! Just to clarify, Julian assisted in a warranty for a product not even purchased in his store. The turbo kit was purchased from Noah, who never helped Randy warranty the turbos, but simply asked for pictures of the turbos, that he never even sent over to Tim at Greddy.
Julian went well above and beyond for Randy in this situation FYI.

I was a customer of MRC when I brought them my Procharged Z to run on their dyno, and then to tune my Turbonetics kit. I also have bought parts from Julian.

It was the #2 & #5 Rod bearing and the #2 & #4 main bearing that fried.

So are you saying that misplaced bearings would only show when boosted...so that means it could still be a machining error or install error?

Woah hold on. Noah was following orders from Tim at Greddy. Its not that he flaked out on me or anything...he did what he was asked to do by Greddy.
I am however grateful that Julian has a good rapport with the Greddy guys to help make this happen. Julians approach was a bit more aggressive than what Noah was doing, but nonetheless what Noah was doing was still helpful.

no, I'm not saying it would only show when boosted, just that it's more likely too (IMHO)

at the end of the day, trying to diagnose the "why" as far as the motor is concerned is going to be impossible...but I suspect you know that already (unfortunately)

Randy...I am glad to hear you are making progress with your rebuild. Kudos to Julian @ MRC. This is what it should be about, people with a common interest HELPING each other!!! This is a win-win for Randy & MRC. It helps get Randy get his engine rebuilt and is an opportunity for Julian to put himself out there in a positive light. Tuners/Vendors should realize that sometimes helping a customer (or potential customer) today can bring business tomorrow. Customer service is KING. We can ALL buy parts online etc and get good prices, but what makes a customer come back over & over again is the service their tuner or vendor provides. Answering tons of questions (even for stuff they don't buy), giving price estimates, trying to accomodate customer needs are the lifeline of a business. Too bad some companies feel customer service is a burden. Just my 1 1/2 c

Good question. How can I know if the motor is mail-order and I shipped it back to Texas for tear-down as requested.
Would any engine builder worried about his reputation admit a mistake that would cost him/her money...Well hopefully there are still a few honest people out there. I put my trust in Kyle and he is helping me out any way he can to get the new up and running. Kyle has already offered to not only take back the short block, but my long block for complete and thorough evaluation. He is not charging me for the tear-down or reassembly of the long block.

Thanks Adrian. Very True, customer service is big, especially in this expensive Z world. I appreciate the support.

You don't have to be "special" to get good customer service. Good customer service "should" be granted to everyone...who pays. Its a shop owners choice whether or not good customer service is granted. As a customer we deserve 100% of what we pay for. I am not paying for attitude or unwanted comments. I just want what I pay for. I paid for an engine, a Turbo, an exhaust. Almost everything worked. I now have to take care of things one at a time. Julians customer service granted to a customer helped me.

I'm not sure what your comment above was directed to accomplish. Is alberto the Front man for Forged? I don't really know, but I do know that he is a customer. Is Alberto sponsored by Forged? I don't know. I'm sure he would like to be, just as I would like to be sponsored and not pay for parts. I'm sure you know what that is like. Isn't your car being prepared by someone else or am I mistaken?
Anyway, lets not loose focus here.

I think he meant that the customer service should come from the shop that sold you the stuff and made the loot off it. Granted you were a customer of MRC's at one point, they had no obligation to warranty or assist you in any way with your turbos.
That would be like having Honda warranty a Nissan. GT Spec perhaps should have moved a bit more swiftly on helping you out,but either way the issue is taken care of for you!
