Thanks a bundle guys. Initially my thoughts are to build the motor in Australia. Not that I don't trust any of the builders in the US but I feel I have more control if the block was built locally as I can chop and change the parts I will be using or specifying the tolerences i'm after. My concern is finding a decent machinist to do the job.

Audible Mayhem will shoot u an email soon with some questions.

On a side note if I do find a engine in the US any ideas on the best way to ship it. I'm after any recomendations on how to strap it down on a pallet or if anyone has experiences in shipping an item like this.

RIKZ. My personal experience is aussie engine builders and late model jap engines is pretty bad. Everyone claims to have years of experience and expertise. But i pull them down and check there work, and its always below par. My recommendation is to get something built over there... and shipped through. Shipping is fairly easy, cost you around 300USD. I cant remmeber the name of hte people i used last time.

Yeah that is my biggest concern. I haven't come across a local builder that the majority of owners rave about. The cost of shipping is what I would expect as I paid about US$500 to get my turbo kit sent which was quite large.

Weqster if you can find out on any details regarding the shipping you used last time please let me know.

The problem I see with this is that the seller needs to prepare the item. Not as simple as just putting it into a box.

I dont think any shop would have a problem shipping to australia. Most shops that build engines ship them out anyway. Its just a matter of calling someone else to forward the pallate. I'll check my invoices and get back to you on the shipping company i used. It took about 2 weeks to come in, fairly quick!

PS. Hope u dont mind OT chat, but is your motor in need of replacing (your running the hks kit right?) or is it just the chase for more power?

Yeah still running the HKS ST and motor is still in one piece thank god. Basically just more power and reliability as I want to take it to the circuit and not have to worry. Its also a daily driver so getting another motor for the build would help.

My goal is about 330-350kw (450 HP) at the wheels and being able to drive it everyday of the week like I stole it.
