Robert!

Once again go with the 700 if cash flow is an issue on the long run. You will be fine with a good tune with the 700's.

I also not to be a Dick, but some members think your kinda arrogant, with the comments reflecting back at Zivman. You wanted opinions, he just trying to help you out. I would also agree that the APS is more suitable for your plans, but we know you DONT want one.

Just chill and let the members make their opinion, thats what you asked for.

Good Luck on your build and Forged should be able to take care of you in all your needs

Thanks. I'm gonna go ahead and do the 700's and see what I can do about the built motor.

As far as Zivman I honestly respect his opinion cause he sounds like he knows what hes talking about. Its just I don't want APS. I've told him this multiple times. I might be arrogant but how many times does it really take. I'm not saying APS is garabge, just not what I want.

^ that's the one - best bang for the buck right there. The S2 package with Pauter rods is an option for $500+ more (but Eagle rates their rods good for 1500 hp and are lighter than Pauter).

Thanks! I'm sure Sharif will answer a lot of these questions but...
- This is a brand new block?
- What's the core charge?
- Do I ship my core than receive Forged's?
- That the complete package? Nothing else needs to be added?

One thing about Sharif...he will spend the time on the phone or in person with you.

I also agree that if your plans are to build in the near future....I would also go with the 700bb and baby it to prevent damage. Just remember that it will cost you more if you damage your motor and it cannot be used for your build.

In my opinion JWT all the way

-It wont be a new block unless you want to pay more
-I think its $1500 - $2000
-I had Sharif build mine in advance
-As far as the motor goes.

Good luck.

usually a .20 over bore on a used block... used block is most likely better due to having gone through heat cycles (being seasoned). The metal will move around less than a brand new block

Most shops are charging a $1500 core charge on a short block. This is something you pay up front for and would get refunded upon them revieving your block

you could do it that way. if that is the case, you could have a shop build your specific block. I see no need for this. Most shops have cores lying around for builds. I would have them build a motor ship it to you, you swap it out with yours and send back your core

There is always stuff you can add
I am in the process of doing a build here locally with a friend of mine:
We are doing a full long block build:
APS TT kit - already on the car
Arias ED pistons (9:1 CR)
Eagle Rods
Brian Crower 264 (stage 2) cams
might try the new cosworth stopper style head gaskets
APS base fuel system with 600cc deatschwerk injectors
APS unichip EMS and boost solenoid
- obviously there is more to the build, but the rest is just generals

Going for a very humble 450-475 hp @ 11-13 psi at this point. Not really in the budget for clutch to hold beyond that(car currently has a spec 2+), not to mention a big time EMS like Haltech or Fcon. My buddy was in love with the APS single turbo we installed a few yrs ago for a local which was at 400hp. He has driven my car at over 500 and thinks it might be just too much; so mid to upper 400's should be perfect for him

Has anyone mentioned the effects of atmospheric pressure in relation to your turbo build? CO is at 5000+ feet. You would need to run more boost to reach 400whp than a car a sea level because of this.

Go for the 700's.

I don't even mention elevation anymore. A lot of people don't understand the effects it has or beleive it. I know its a factor. However, I'm moving to Texas this summer so I'll have to retune once I get there.

well after having the jwt 530 kit for over a year half with not one problem with the kit. I would say it a great kit but if I could do it all over again I would have gone with the aps tt kit or a single and took the rest of the money for a build. When and if I rebuild I will sell my kit for a aps or a greddy that just me though.

No thanks. I'll stick with the JWT kit. I ordered a kit so this thread will be locked now. Thanks for those that helped.
