Default JWT 530's and test pipes

So, I've done a lot of reading on the topic and understand the risks of the oil consumption and of a retune if I put on TP's. But what is the diameter of the cast downpipe coming off the turbos. It looks to be about 2"-2.5", but am unsure - I didn't measure. When I get test pipes I want to make sure I'm not chocking anything with a smaller pipe diameter than the down-pipe diameter.

Any idea which TP's are the right diameter for the JWT kit? I'm sticking with the 530s for now so I don't think I need TP's larger than 3". Thoughts...

Thx.
John

you will have to run a 2.5 max otherwise the flange will be opened up to big to tighten down the test pipe

If you would like a set of nice test pipe for that kit pm me

Go with Megan test pipes. To my knowledge they're the first pipes on the market with a flex, to avoid cracking. They look beautiful and they sound SWEET!! They are perfect for the JWT kit, as thats exactly what I have. Only about $155 online.

Oh yeah, after my TP install I did not need a retune. A/F was still perfect.

They say it has something to due with not enough back pressure to keep the seals seated. That is comeing from a JWT rep. I know I did not have any smoking issues till I put on test pipes. My oil started to burn to Like 3 days after I would change it too.

Holy ****, I was just about to put test pipes on, already bought them and everything. Can you point me to the thread discussing this? I'm trying the search feature as well to see if I can find it. It's very strange to me to hear that back pressure from the exhaust system is something good!!!

I thought this was only an issue on Journal Style turbos, not BB ones.....of course i could be wrong

I am going to take a wild stab at this and say the HUGE restriction in the exhaust, we call turbos are more than enough to provide enough back pressure.... again, just a wild guess

With a stock motor, I see no reason to remove high flow cats and risk a CEL. Sharif was able to push the 300 cell metallic FastIntentions hfc to 420 whp (DD, approx 460 DynoJet) before the curve went to crap. You will want the metal substrate, not ceramic for FI.
