I feel as though a quality mag should verify such inflated horsepower claims instead of 'quoting the owner'. For that reason I cant say I would pick up another PAS magazine again. Anyone can report bogus numbers or say they have authentic parts which might be replicas for the sake of getting into a magazine. All quality magazines should be held to a certain standard. Investigating the claims of car owners looking for magazine exposure should be paramount. Once you lose your credibilty to put out accurate info, it's hard to get back. Actually it's darn-near impossible. This is my honest opinion and i'm entitled to it on this forum.

welll the editor is reading this thread, which i give him props for... let see if they rectify things by the next issue...
....
Sport compact rectified things with their article on vrt... you gotta give them a month(in between issues) for them to rectify things.
Its pretty ovbious they know they messed up

I know Drag Sport Magazine (D Sport) does a pretty good job of printing the dyno sheet in the articles, or I think I have even seen the word "verified" next to the "Numbers" area on the spec colum. I read it every month.
Mark......?
Mark......?
Where have you gone, man.
You have been strangely quiet since we arrived at the consensus that you are in the business of lining your own pockets and NOT in the business of relating quality information about our sport/cars.
PAS Magazine = puppy poop absorbent mat (even then, it might not be of good enough quality for that).

I dropped in barnes & noble last night to check this out. It appears they just mixed up their articles... a 1000+whp 350z is actually in there, it just happens to be ours and it's under the "SEMA Review" section

Hopefully they will start requiring double verification of big things like the original kid was claiming.
We need to get a hold of the shop that gave the kid his dyno and ask how much it would cost to make our stock internal Zs run almost 1k HP.

This is Dave with PAS Mag, the same guy who ran Modified Mag from 02-06 and Luxury & Exotics mag for a couple years. Although the board makes some excellent points, the blame is misplaced. Many owners (AND, YES MANUFACTURERS) stretch the truth on their specs, performance and hp numbers. Its part of the scene and you need to acknowledge it. Some owners lie, exaggerate and often make several mistakes on the spec sheets for their cars. I correct plenty of those daily.
I heard some poster call for a mandatory dyno? My designers could make a perfect fake in under 10 minutes and dynos can be adjusted...so that means nothing.
So as much as you want to claim sensationalism or question our street cred, any liability is on the owner for their own claims. We put the hp claims in "quotes" and will often put (est.) for estimated in other articles if there is no verification. As for the parts, the turbo specs etc...how on earth can that all be verified? I have never seen this car or met the owner. We can't possibly be putting it up on a hoist to check every mod. And do we perform a teardown of engines and trannies that claim beefed up internals?
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but for those saying they will never buy the mag...were you buying it before? We can't possibly fact check and verify everything, even the New York Times with 1000s of staff got in trouble for false statements. But there are 1000s of correct statements in this same issue with 2 editors that I doubt we will get a pat on the back for. And claiming other mags never publish sketchy info...we all had a good laugh there.
I believed the car did not have enough fuel to get that hp but since its such new territory for VQ35s and didn't know the details of the NX direct port couldn't disprove it.
Either way, if you haven't picked up the PAS Mag lately, you should. I'm gradually bringing more performance and competition to the book, we have a project Z and a project GT-R. We just did a complete VQ Crower stroker buildup and have some great tests and reviews coming up.
I'll be happy to forward the Z cover car owner this link and let him defend himself and his actions.
Thanks for reading.

Let me verfiy before I go off putting my foot in my mouth, but I think it's stock internals and a used APS kit.
